He gave an "obscene gesture", probably "The Finger", towards some guy with a camera on live TV. He was fined 10k, and placed on probation. He apparently thought it was one of his friends but he was obviously wrong.

 

Hopefully he will do it again and they yank his license and we will never hear of the cry baby every again. JPM, the first generation FA of F1.

The fine should go to the TV director, for not having a delay on in-car cameras. If I was Juan or the team owner, I'd have those yanked out.

Something similar happened a few years ago when a TV channel was streaming the live scanner feed of a driver. The crew chief got popped for a foul word, but nothing happened to the guys who were eavesdropping on the frequency.

 

It wasn't in the car, it was in or near the paddock. Juan was going somewhere and saw the TV guy and gave him the "obscene gesture".

How come nobody made a stink when Dale Jr swore at Talladega a few years ago. Sure he got penalized but not as bad as JPM. I think it's all because that for all their Nascar diversity programs they want it just to stay lily white males. JPM will get a chance but in the end for some reason it won't work out. Then, Nascar can say they gave him a chance but it did not work out. So, JPM I hope wherever you go next, it works out better for you.

There is a video crew hired by JPM or someone within his organization that is following him around and filming ONLY HIM, and JPM thought this was 'his' guy for a second, that's why he did what he did.

Now, I suppose if for whatever reason MS did this, all would be OK, right ?

It's soo hard to believe there are adults posting on this thread.. the hatred for one or two people is really unbelievable. I have my favorites - just as you all do, but man-o-man, I don't kill people like some of you do..

 

The Dale Jr event was at the beginning of NASCAR's move to penalize. If you notice, penalties have gotten more severe since then irrespective of who the driver/team may be. This has nothing to do with Montoya, NASCAR wants Montoya to help them increase Latino viewership. I do not think it too difficult for anyone on live broadcast to keep it clean.

 

Has anyone ever watched an F1 driver "shoot the bird" on live TV? Or for that matter, have you ever seen an F1 driver use colorful metephors on live TV?
