Can u wise Ferrari owners please give me your opinions on the following:

I need two new rear tyres for my 1982 Mondial QV, (very expensive Michelin trx's). However I have seen a set of 348 wheels and tyres for sale, the wheels have just been refurbished and the back tyres are virtually brand new, the fronts have 5-6mm on them.

Do the 348 wheels look right or wrong on the Mondial, please be as honest as you like. Your detailed opinions if you have the time. Thanks.

The money spent will be about the same but I will have an extra set of wheels to boot and not have the blessed problem of metric tyres or do I keep it looking original.

    In short Cool or Uncool!

That's a wise decision, I have seen numerous Mondial Coupe's with 348 rims, and it updates the car a little, I think much better than the stock wheels. I say go for it.

Birdman, where are you? Fellow Ultra Ferrari enthusiast Birdman has a set on his Mondial. IMHO the wheels look better on the Mondial than the 348 they were designed for!

    How about these?

Look pretty sharp, don't you think?

Anyhow newer wheels always upgrade the look of the car. So if you have a good deal, go for it!

I have same Michelin TRX tyre situation with my Mondial, and I even like the original wheels. I also like 348 and 355 wheels on Mondial.

As I wish to change tyres, I have to purchase alternative wheels, so currently, looking for a set of 348 wheels (with or without tyres), in Ontario, Canada.

I apologize for the old pic with the pre-repainted bumper, but the 348 wheels look FANTASTIC on a mondial. I really think they go well with the car. The Mondial is kinda angular like the wheels. They look better on the Mondial than on the 348, like spider348 says. (Because everyone knows that 355 wheels are the look for the 348! ;))

Go for it! 348 Wheels definitely look great on Mondials, or should I say Mondials definitely make 348 wheels look great.

348 wheels on a Mondial are not even an anachronism since the Mondial T used the engine from the 348. :)

At equal cost, why not? Have to give a small preimum to a Mondial for having 348 wheels (if they are painted ;)) or the Superformance option (vs the stock metric wheels) -- 355 or 360 wheels would have to be a bigger plus.

One difference to consider is that a 348 set gives wheel and tire size differences front vs rear; whereas, the Superformance set is the same wheel front vs rear -- although you could run different tire sizes (not saying one is necessarily better than the other -- just a difference in how each set might look with the coachwork).

The Rosso Rubino Mondial with chromed 348 wheels is specially beautiful :)

But then again, I would say that.

Thanks guys, not one negative comment. I am gonna go for it, and yes I did know I could get superformance Mondial wheels gt4me, they're £695 plus VAT and then I need the tyres so I think it is a tad too much although I am sure the new wheels would look lovely. So thanks again, if I do manage to aquire them I will let you all know and post a piccie of my baby lookin all trendy in her new boots.

Hey guys, do any of you know if I will need wheels spacers for the 348 wheels? The fronts are only 215/50/17 but the rears are 255/45/17. As I'm sure most of you will know I currently have the standard 240/55vr390's on all 4 corners. Close to a deal on these, fingers crossed.

Wellll... I know that 348 wheels are a popular update for Mondials. Not my favorite, though, I must say. I like the "3.2" version wheels.

Actually, it is the 348 that used the Mondial T engine! :)

I fitted a set to my 81 Mondial. The 348 wheels make a big difference in looks and handling. Remember there are left and right wheels.
You will need spacers and longer wheel bolts.

No spacers on mine. Why did you need spacers?

Hi, I asked Hill-engineering, a reputable Ferrari parts pecialist in the UK, if I need spacers for the 348 wheels upgrade. He said most people put the wheels straight on however I WILL need longer bolts as the Mondial bolts are not long enough. Anyone got any thoughts on this please. He also said some people do put the 15mm spacers on the rears so the wheels fill the wheel arches.

The Mondial with the 355 wheels I posted the picture of, uses longer bolts as well. Normally when you buy spacers for the Ferrari, you get longer bolts automatically.

You need the bolts that go with the rims. obviously since I was using stock 355 rims, I needed stock 355 bolts. I needed spacers on the rears but they have their own bolts and then the wheel lug bolts bolt into the spacers.
