Hello all. I just sold my 06 Audi Cab and are about to buy my first Ferrari 348 tb. Shes a Red with black interior from 1991 with 29.000 Km. (18.000 miles) on the clock. Because I live in Denmark the worst place on earth for car lovers, my 348 will cost me 118.000 US $ including Danish Car Tax. (Quite a lot of money for a car of that age) So my question is: What do I need to know or be aware of before I buy my first 348. Thanx Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, look at it this way. At least you can drive to the Nurburgring, Cote d'Azur or Maranello. Dem Muricans with their "cheapo" Ferraris can't!! IMHO, Singapore is probably worse than Denmark. Used 348s command around USD 100k, the annual roadtax is USD 4k (it's based on engine capacity, exponential and is 150% of the initial rate for cars 15 years or older), and every ten years, you gotta renew your "Certificate of Entitlement" (COE) which allows you to keep the car on the island, and this can range from USD 6k to over USD 50k during the booming 90s. Did I mention that the island is the size of your mom's closet and that the speed limit is strictly enforced at around 70 mph? There are no half decent mountain roads (actually, there are no mountains - period). Parking spots are sized for Japanese micro-cars. Land is so scarce that having a "garage" is a luxury (most of us are stuck in high rises - think NYC living). And to cap it all off, it doesn't have Legoland or cool stereo equipment. Good luck with your acquisition. I've had mine for a month and still grin ear-to-ear when I take her out (I keep her "off-shore" so the issues above don't really apply to me).
Welcome to Ferrarichat!! The 348 looks sweet in that little pic. That IS alot of cash to pay mate. I didnt realise it was like that in Denmark. Check out that link posted plugzit, fill out your profile and have a nice day.
plugzit: Tank you for the link. The fact that people are so passioned about there and a solid web site about it, is amazing Salsero: I know what you are going throw! Hate car tax.
