You always here about how F1 is the fastest racing series in the world. I can see why. Onboard cams can sometimes make you dizzy there so fast, but is F1 just riding on that reputation and no longer really the fastest (excluding NHRA of course)? In 2004 they were way faster, and in 2005 they were alot faster too. 2006 saw a serious slow down, and now I don't know how 2007 F1 cars stack up against how they used to be. I know there slower than past cars like the 2004 cars, but I've seen other races like IRL, and while I don't think they corner as well as F1, I'm not so sure their straightline speed isn't superior. Maybe its just the new position for the cameras on the cars this year, but F1 has definitely gotten slower. Is it still the fastest racing series in the world (most importantly NASCAR and all the other big name series like IRL, Champ, etc.)?

Recent drivers in Indy and Champcar who have tested in F1 (Marco Andretti and Sebastian Bourdais) have said that the straight line speed is superior, but the biggest difference is as you mentioned, the brakes, but also the aerodynamics and high speed stability. Also, they need to go back to V10s.

F1 is definitly the fastest racing series if you talk about cornering. The enormous amount of downforce allow up to 6g (for example in Silverstone). Brakes allow up to 6g as well (in Malaysia they reached 5,7 I think).
    Pure Speed...difficult. 930bhp=>750bhp. In 2005 they reached 370km/h on the straights, 2006 334km/h.
But one thing is sure: The technical level of F1 is the highest in the world, everything is extremely complicated.
So all in all F1 might not be the fastes racing series (probably it's drag racing anyway....), but the hardest (especially from the technical point of view)

An F1 car will get around any track that has left AND right hand turns quicker than any other car. This is due to the amazing grip and especially the brakes on an F1 car.
When it comes to oval racing I don't know what car is quickest. I would guess that an F1 car on a low-downforce set-up (eg Monza) could still be quicker than anything else.

What about drag racing? 0-330 in 4.4 seconds is not the quickest form of motorsport around?!?

Gearing and set up for Super Speedways and ovals would be different than for an F1 circuit, which would allow the teams to release more top-end speed than they currently show. It's almost an apples and oranges comparison. I think you'd have to wonder how an Indy car would perform on an F1 ciruit.

I tried to get interested in soccer by watching the World Cup last year. I was so disgusted by the feigned injuries that it ruined the game for me completely. Soccer players have got to be the biggest ***s in the world of athletics. I think I saw a guy stretchered off the field because he had a bruised ego...

I too hate "divers" as us soccer fans call them. That is by far the worst part of watching a soccer game, for some players all they do is fall down and look for a call, they are damn embarrassments to the game.

I find the "miracle healings" in soccer quite amusing.

Didn't Pizzaboy set 229.8 mph at Monza in the BMW Williams in 2004? That's pretty fast...

But I believe Honda BAR has the world record for fastest F1 set at Bonneville. But even that is a far cry from the speeds achieved at that place.

F1 cars are purpose built for the tracks they race on, nothing will get around those tracks faster.

Cars that are designed to go around ovals are fastest in that.

Cars that are designed to drag race are fastest in that.

Cars that are designed for high speed runs on salt flats are fastest in that.

    Etc......

    :)

The second a card appears the players are instantly better. They can go from broken legs to running in mere second. :)

Regardless they set the bar high enough to beat Pizzaboy's Monza delivery. The fastest F1 run, bar none. I'm sure they celebrated that later at the bar. :)
