This past week, ex-Chinetti mechanic Gary S. Bobileff put fluids in our LP400 and fired her up. She started first time and after much fettling and tuning he took it for a test run and declared it to be one of the sweetest runnning Countachs he has ever driven. Now ordinarily this would be good news but I am slightly annoyed I couldnt have been behind the wheel myself on her maiden run after the epic rebuild. I was too busy working this week :-(

From next Tuesday on, plan to make up for lost time :)

Images after Lester Bidrawn gets his sticky fingers on her sometime in May. And yes I must remember to register her for Concorso...

    Beautiful car...as if "new"

I shudder however to think of the cost to bring the "Garage Queen" back to life??

Just the DOT outdated tires alone...collector car insurance policys have caught onto this loop hole and use the DOT date code to shy away from pay outs...READ you policy!

But it does make a fine piece of Art Work for a private collector.

So speculation doesnt run rife with regards to the black/red Annivesario:

This was the late Tony Carlini's (of "Like Bikes Man" fame) car. He was the Newport Beach authorized Lamborghini dealer circa 1988 to 1992 as "Pacifica Lamborghini". When his health deteriorated, he sold it to the current owner who is a west coast businessman and erstwhile USA ambassador to a European country.

There is an entire hangar of cars that is looked after by a full-time curator/engineer. This caar has been started up religiously each month, taken outside and run to full temperature, and driven around the warehouse.

A few years ago it was sent to a local Southern California Lamborghini dealer who performed another major service on it (the first was in the mid-90s), replaced the original tires with fresh rubber, and checked all lines, hoses, gaskets and belts replacing where needed (records on file). It was then returned to the hangar, where its monthly routine of operation continued. If there is a proper way to store & maintain a motor car, this car has undergone that regimen.

The car is for sale because the owner is getting on in age and lack of time means he must sell off the collection. This car can immediately be pressed into use following a further service, and this is possible because of the way it has been maintained the last 17 years. Personally my hope is that someone will buy this car and simply treat it as the rare opportunity to buy a "Brand New Countach". Remember this is not one of those so-called "Delivery miles" cars with 300 or 500 miles on the clock, that looks well-worn and has evidence of poor storage and neglect. This car is NEW with 82 miles, and with a one-off livery for the USA. The new owner would go through the normal Running-In regimen that any new sports car would require and simply continue to drive the car. I hope.

As one can see, the interior is like new (the cigarette lighter still has its duty tag on it !!), the plastic was still on the seats before I took the images, and the black paint is like glass (they have had an outside polish expert come in to take care of this). No expense has been spared in maintaining this car properly.

I agree. We have a "waiting list" of LP400 prospective owners...

I will bring mine to Concorso, if it doesnt crash or catch fire as I like to say :)

    Best,
    Joe

    amazing, Joe
hard to describe my feelings: it is fascinating and a little sad at the same time
and at this point i dare to suggest you to buy it and keep it, i'd say you can't find a better 25th nor a more appropriate livery

do you know where is now Bobnar's 25th?

Question for you Emilio: See the white ceramic-coated sport exhaust? I have seen the factory finish a couple of units as such - Walter Wolf's 1120202, Armin Johl's first 5-litre car etc etc. Do you concurr that this was a factory application and what do you think of it??

Joe, i have seen some to, but i can't confirm it as a factory application
white ceramic-coated exhausts were pretty fashion in 70's and even 80's for bikes, race-cars...
btw: i have seen pics of 2nd Wolf special countach, older than this, and with what looks like the regular countach box exhaust

    Joe,

I think the better question is: Has Ansa ever made a white system, I don't think so. I have seen headers done in white after the surface rust started.

I think that they did the same to the Ansa Sport (Factory option) exhaust after it started to show rust as well.

I agree. No question it was done for the 'sporting' customer and Wolf and Johl were sporting types whose cars were kitted out to the gills so perhaps they requested it. Interesting. Personally Im not sure I like it.

Clearly you guys don't understand these cars. It's not leaking oil, it's marking its territory.

Ah that explains it. Because I have never had that happen to me, nor is there ever that so-called gasoline smell that others speak of.... ;-)
