Best way to remove wheel weights?

What is the best method, specifically to get the sticky adhesive pad from alloy wheels? I know the guys at the tire store have some good juice they splash on there, but the sticky stuff remains behind. There has got to be a better way than what I am doing (using WD40 and a rag).

 

I would try both to see which works best, but I don't know what "mer" is! Must be one of those good old British products. Goo Gone I can find! Thx for the advice guys! Jim

 

I use a shop with a road force balancer, and they usu end up with a weight on the inside and one on the outside. I run Pirelli's and they say that they are the toughest to get balanced. In fact, I usu return two out of four tires bc they won't meet tolerences. They are half worn now, so should be easier to balance I would think.
