    I wonder how Hesh's girlfriend/wife died?

This episode reminded me of when he saw dr. melfi after the hospital stay and he mentioned that times were tough and vito helped carmela. Dr. Melfi questioned him about him having millions.

I wonder how long it will be before tony goes broke.

Undoubtedly the worst excuse for an episode yet. A complete waste of an hour. I didn't give a damn about anything that happened (Tony's going broke gambling?) Gimme a huge break!

Only 5 episodes left. I think I'll skip 'em.

Isn't it only 4 left? They don't have much time at all to wrap this thing up. Unless they almost immediately start with something, they are gonna have to do it all with a one-episode of drama that will be totally unbelievable (I mean that in the too-far-out-to-be-believed sense, not the "wow that was great!" sense). I just don't get why they come up with new plot twists constantly when there is plenty of meat already in the show to work with. It's like they are turning it into a sitcom - instead of developing a continuous ongoing plot, they have vague ties to previous and following episodes, but each show is a distinct event that stands on it's own. It seems the writers fail to carry any plot themes over from season to season and even from show to show. If it was all brewing towards some grand finale, then I could get behind it. But it's not. It's not tricks and games for the audience to get everyone all mellow and BAM!, hit them with a huge end, it's just that the show is out of ideas and they just come up with sitcom-like ideas and make shows about them.

I 'watched' this show while I was doing work - just had it on in the background and kinda-sorta paid attention.

Are you kidding? You didn't see the impact of Tony's gambling? He's loosing control entirely. Just think of the fallout from something like this...

    SRT, yes, 5 episodes left.

I'll admit this episode didn't "pop" like I like them to, but the whole show is a huge story arc.

The losing at gambling is only now a problem because Philly Leotardo killed Tony's "earner-du-jour" (Vito). So he has less income.

That desn't mean he's going broke. He mentioned going to an offshore account to get money for Vito's family. The offshore cash is his rainy day money. I'd guess he has alot more than 100k in the offshore money if he was willing to take it out for Vitos wife.

Borrowing money from Hesh is easier than going to the offshore accounts, I would guess.

All I gotta say is less BS and more whacking. I wanna see some corpses before this series ends. I'll take a wild guess and say Christopher ends up whacking Tony. I'll say I'm completely wrong on this one but ya never know.

I'm sure the show will end in a such way that it would be impossible to continue the story even if such an opportunity were possible. Least I'm hoping. When does a mob story ever have a happy fairytale ending? Anybody else have a "Bada Bing!" T-shirt? =)

I'm watching the old episode where Johnny Soprano cuts off a guys finger in one of Tony's flashbacks. Johnny told Tony that he should never gamble. It reminded me of the latest episode.

Watching these old episodes Tony seems like he is losing it in the new ones.

I'm sure you'll see enough...it's coming, we all know it.

Chase said he won't portray the "crime doesn't pay", it's been done enough he says.

I'll start the critique. I now think Christopher is going to bring the whole season to a head. He is disgusted with Tony, despises Paulie and is generally disillusioned with the whole mob lifestyle. Bacala stepping into Tony's inner circle after all Christopher has done was the ultimate insult. He may go to the FBI, whack Tony or Paulie or maybe all of the above.

As to his personal life, Tony is hitting his own rock bottom, despite his own misery he pathetically pushes AJ into the same world (although his choices are limited, either let AJ wallow in suicidal misery or get him jumpstarted with the next generation of mobsters). Not much of a legacy to leave one's kids, no wonder Tony is depressed. Did anyone catch the allusion to Tony's own childhood? One of his earliest memories of his Dad was Soprano Sr. giving a beating to a guy while screaming "where the F** is MY MONEY". The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I agree. That was an insanely intense episode. The next 4 are going to be over the top I think.

What a waste of good TV. Christopher shot his friend, the screenwriter HUH! Paulie is still a problem. AJ needs to go (car exhaust, pills, etc. ) certainly nothing manly. Tony's tipping the Feds about 'arabs". He has no clue what he's doing.

Chase is doing a great job of making me not give a damn how it ends, just do it soon.

When NYPD Blue ended it was glorious and sad at the same time. I still miss that show and those characters. I have no idea what would stir some emotion for The Sopranos Finale. They can all die, I won't miss'em.

    +1

The last episode - meh, they are still spiraling out of control with little to redeem the show. I don't really care how it ends either. It has been so crappy the past few years that they can't possibly make it good enough in 3 more episodes to redeem it.

This one - Chris goes and pops his friend because he was drunk and the guy was being whiney? Right, very believable - I buy it! And it was in an apartment complex.... nobody came to their door to see what was up, nobody looked to see who shot who? I dont buy it. It's either reality oriented or it's not. Chris shooting a guy and walking away calmly is nothing like reality, not is Paulie and Chris killing a waiter without any problem.

They had some great storylines going - 2 episodes ago it was about New York going to war maybe with Jersey. Then before that it was Uncle Jun, or Bobby giving problems to T. Now it's Chris. May as well make it Meadow and Carmela next week... then roll the dice for the next show, then come up with a totally new ending, like Tony slips in the shower and dies.

Just end it - its over, shut the lights and go home!

He didn't pop his friend because he was whiny, didn't you hear what Chris was telling that guy? How could he let that guy live after all that **** he told him? What if the guy mentioned it to anyone, Chris would get popped in a second.

I agree, I think it also shows how conflicted Christoper is. He's stuck between being a mobster and a screenwriter but can't coexist in both worlds.
In the end the mobster wins, he caves in to drinking (a requirement of the lifestyle) and "kills off" the screenwriter.
