Sad to hear, RIP Reading on the Elise boards, he seemed like a great guy. All I can say is, everyone, please drive carefully.
tim any time you have kinetic forces of a little rocket and 2 pickup's the little rocket is going to loose.
Horrible to see, RIP. I assumed a Lotus would be a pretty safe car since it's geared more towards track use.
WOW... Terrible accident if you noticed the image with the speedometer, this guy was moving, which explains the total demolition of the Lotus front end. My condolences.
Ok, here is one final thought. The speedo may be pegged, but it has been known that cops, journalists and the morbid few, have been able to gain access in the past to accident scenes. With the plastic face over the gauges broken, it would be very easy to manipulate the speedo needle in to a place. I await the actual police report to confirm/deny that speed
++ RIP, too bad no matter what the reasons. ++ on the speedo; notice the tach needle is missing... You know an ironic thing? Saturday morning before the drive, I was talking to Hans of RUF about that red Beck Spyder he had in the back. We were both just saying, sure looks fun but even a minor accident would not be something you even want to think about. Of course, if he went head-on into two pickups in turn at speed, I don't really know what kind of sportscar would be 100% sure to keep a person alive.
I just drove the route where he crashed and have some crummy video of it I took with my digital camera. This guy was doing 115 in a 60 around a turn with a stoplight on the other side of the turn. I think even going 80 around this turn would be a bad idea. Here's the video with a brief summary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjbgCx_5NlM
I was west bound on Bee Caves on the west side of 360 past the Lost Creek area. The Street I pulled out of was Patterson Ln. I think. This is the big grey utlity pole you see on my left hand side after I pass the yellow "light signal" sign on the right. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/mm2556/04_26_07_Pin_In_001.jpg This guardrail is right after the big grey pole on my left. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/mm2556/04_26_07_Pin_In_006.jpg
