the thing is they told the buyer exactly the story behind it "It started its life as a street F40 and after an unfortunate incident was resurrected from the ashes in pain staking work according to original blue prints from Michelotto under LM configurations." so while not an "LM orig" per say it was built to spec
You may not have been here long enough to know the history of that build.... there is a lot of questions... Michelotto blueprints? I still have a tough time with that assertion I didn't think they were that careless with their stuff
If I had the money to throw away, I would buy it. It is a beautiful recreation of an F40, unique and one of a kind
true story...... this would make an awesome, track/meet/weekend drive car.....if you planned on keeping it for ever and ever, and had no interest in ever selling it....
It would make a fun track day car.....just not at a price that would have people laughing all the way back to the bank.
As long as the current condition of the car is good, I don't see a reason to consider it any less of an F40. Not really an official "LM", but if the specs and performance match, it's a hell of a car. Shouldn't be labeled as an LM though if it really is a standard F40. Anyways, does anyone know if Roland has moved here to So Cal? Could have sworn I saw him a few weeks ago.
What about that article in "Texas Driver" magazine about the prototype F40 that was Enzo's daily driver/personal car. Never heard a peep about that lie! I never heard the owner or the writer criticized for that fabrication. When the car was advertised for auction that bit of information was removed. Please retell that story if I got it wrong. I'm sure that F40 could not be replicated for the current asking price. Which one of these two would you consider a bigger stretch of the truth - enzo sat here, or this looks like an LM?
Excuse me? I wrote the article in TDM Who the hell are you? be careful now because you have just gone way over the line on that post.. If you are calling ME a lier come out with it
Its a burnt car put back together. "It is what it is" Ferrari of Quebec had a 92F40 with 2,000miles US car, all books records...no BS story and 2 owners on the VIN for 400K US. What i was referring too was all the Enzos that burnt recently back at the factory being put back together. This car is overpriced at 600K....i think there are many that feel the same.
I was worried this thread would head in this direction, but it does indeed raise the question. Where are the lines drawn in what is original. 0846 is perhaps more original but doesn't have a VIN plate where as this car seems to be the opposite. Regardless it's well overpriced. For that kind of money may as well save a bit longer and get an F40 LM or LM GTE as they are both for sale from Sheehan I believe.
The primary difference between the two is that 0846 is not for sale. It never has been, it never will be. Calling into question its validity is, for anyone, a hobby at best. That discussion will never matter because the car will never be on the market.
I know he hates to let it go, but life changes....... You might have seen him in So Cal, he has friends there...... .....with Ferraris.........that need co drivers....... and stuff.........
The Title must have a lot of 'White Out' by now, for sure.............I dunno............................. I saw the fire pics with the body still on.....those posted do look a little poorer shape .......it was just a engine fire..... And it's a real engine in it now.....that's all you need, for a lot of parties.....
I have friends that are friends with Roland and I have friends who don't care for Roland. I've tried to stay neutral in all the stuff regarding Roland but... A long time ago one of my friends hired Roland to teach him to drive his Maranello to the limits. Roland told my friend that he raced in La Mans and won.... He's still a very good driver and my friend did indeed learn how to drive his car to the limits, despite Roland's blatant Lie... I was really baffled by Roland's involvement in the issue with the Las Vegas events and his silence on the board during those threads... Now that I know that Roland never paid the whole bill for the car, I really don't feel the same about him anymore.
Irrelevant. Everything is for sale or will be some day. Maybe in 10 years, maybe in 100 years. But things change, life changes, and people change. The car will be sold someday, and that day, the story of 0846 will very much be an important issue.
I'm confused. Was it rebuilt with ferrari parts (ie they raided the F40 parts book) or did they fabricate the whole lot starting with not much. If it's used all fabricated parts isn't that different from ordering a large number of replacement parts from Ferrari? So is it a replica Ferrari or a replica F40 or a replica F40LM or a recreation? Are there any photo's of the build process?
