first off that car is not worth 600k, you can buy a real f40lm for that dough( maybe less). This car with it's mish mash of parts should bring 250k.
    just my two cents.

I service, restore, and rebuild ferrari's. The people who spend 600k on cars have a guy like me check it first. Like I said just my two cents.

    Ok
The Internet is full of 14 year old experts so when someone is on here and is an "unknown" they sometimes can be rather passionate about things they really don't know about, What end of the country or world do you hang your hat in?

Sorry but I disagree with that. It is an LM spec car. As such it is not a factory LM and that is made clear in the description of the ad. What you are asking as a title is ridiculous. But, since this is a free country you are entitled to your opinion. :D

Just curious can you get me a F40 for $300,000 then without the "mish mash"? If you can I have two buyers right away.

As I said, you can chose what you think the car is worth and can give your opinion. At the end of the day it takes the buyer that DOES have the $250,000 or the buyer that will value what the car has and is and pay whatever he thinks it is worth. Experts that don't make real offers and can back them with real cash.........

It really doesn't matter what you call. Anyone with half a brain and lots of money will understand exactly what it is.
I'd love nothing more than to see this particular car go for really stupid money (and IMHO $600K is waaay stupid), because a rising tide raises all boats and we'll all benefit. So good luck and hopefully you'll find a buyer who doesn't surf on FChat.

:) See that is exactly my point. And sofar I have mainly encountered people with that cash that actually HAVE all their brain.:)
Honestly I hope they read Fchat because those with a full brain will be able to read through the experts and will come to their own conclusions. Some may not want it because it is what it is, others may want it because it is what it is. It is a one of a kind and as such not easy to sell. You need to find the right buyer for the car. I am convinced though that that buyer is out there.

ya know I was thinking about this...

Someone was PM'ing me regarding the Lusso at the Keels and Wheels world wide group auction... I did the photography of the car and have driven it. One of the comments was regarding the Auction Estimate.. It is kind of like the Asking price on a car like this.

Asking price and estimates like this are nothing more than informed guesses of what the market MAY absorb.

Martin has the right to ASK for what ever price he thinks the car is worth He is in the business of making a profit. It is up to the potential buyer to set the price he is willing to pay and for Martin to decide if it is reasonable not really for us to bicker about. A potential buyer should do his due diligence on a purchase of this or any size so it is up to them to inform themselves of the merits and deficiencies. If they don't that is their problem but it is also up to Martin to make sure he shares any pertinent information regarding the history of the car with that purchaser. There might be someone out there who wants it more than you do...

Same thing with the auction. An informed Guess of what the market will hold is all they ever can be. There are limited numbers of really good cars and then some that have stories, it would be hard to find another F 40 that could have as interesting a story as this one.

Now i have heard that many of the Brocket cars have re-congealed out of the oil drums in the back yard of the estate. Each one should be considered a REPLICA. what value do we place on them if they have been replicated?

In this case there is no doubt the car has stories and it was BURNT and rebuilt as an LM Inspired F40. The story alone may well be worth some dollars in the future who knows?

No matter how you look at it it is a beautiful car. I had a chance to see it in person at the Celebration Exotic Car Show, and it was flawless. The only person that can answer if it is worth the asking price is the eventual buyer. The value of an object is determined by the price a buyer is willing to pay.

Am I mistaken in thinking that this car was built far exceeding the LM specs? I thought that this car was basically a tube frame car modified to hell and back.

From the pictures of the interior below, this car vaguely resembles a real F40LM. Wouldn't that merely make it a heavily modified F40 LM replica?

Roland's tube frame car first, the real LM second:

I think the only real F40 piece in the whole thing is the wire pull to open the door :)
