    LOL - Behave, Peter. :)

$50k over sticker is nuts for a euro-version.

$50k over sticker is stupid nuts for a decontented US version.

If you have the money and just WANT the car, and are not buying it as an investment, then it isn't overpriced. Buy it, and have fun.

If you are buying it as an investment (a waste of a nice piece of machintery), then I do not believe it is worth the money. New Porsche's do not seem to be good investments (unless you are the guy that got it at sticker and have someone on the hook for +$50k - lol).

Just a clarification. The US version is decontented, but it's also priced lower than Euro versions (net of sales tax or VAT). You can bring the US version back up to Euro level just by adding CF seats and roll bar and still end up at the same or less than what German or UK owners will pay. I will be checking into that further.

Also, I don't know any owners that are planning to flip their cars any time soon. In fact one Rennlister put his car up because of some business opportunities and then changed his mind and kept the car, even though he got offers well over sticker. So even if they're not paying $50K over, they're giving up the potential for $50K profit if the premium disappears later; so it's worth at least that much extra to them.

Currently US market is approx. 35K over MSRP. Also from what I understand Porsche will continue RS production into '08.

Wonder what the previous generation GT3 996 is worth nowadays?

I remember that I kind of wanted one and asked about a deposit. Got told that they were not taking deposits, but were overstocked on 996 Targas. So, the deal was to trade in my 993 Targa on a 996, which would put me "on the list". Then, later on I could trade the 996 Targa in on a GT3...on their timing and their terms.

Yes, these guys also own a Ferrari dealership...

Based soley on dealer 'asks' on the Porsche USA website, 79-91k dollars will buy you one. I'd also bet for that money, you could create a frankencar of great prowess- the Porsche tuner aftermarket is impressive, eg, an earlier 911 lightweight, with serious hp, brakes, etc.

Ignoring the outliers, the nice CPO dealer cars seem to trade hands in the 75-85 range right now. There are quite a few out there with 5000 miles or less.

Over sticker? For a Porsche? You'd have to be crazy.

Wow, wish I had that kind of wallet. It would be a VERY cool car to own. I am envious.

    Enjoy! :D

Orange and black? Black and orange? Green? The black and orange easily looks the toughest, but I hate keeping black cars clean...

Yes, $50K over list is too much to pay for a 911, any flavor. I would wait a bit and let someone else take the depreciation freefall.

But if you want it and you don't have anything better to do with $50K, well, go for it. Porsches are fine cars, and for the time being this is among the fastest Porsches.

We all know it's a waste of money. But then we'd all tell you to buy an exotic, and you'd probably spend $50K on service and repairs over the years, so...

Very nice. Drive it like you stole it. It deserves nothing less.

    Cheers.

The GT3RS is an awesome car. I highly doubt they will make any more, so there will only be 240 odd cars. So what it is worth, is what people are prepared to pay for it. There will not be any more and there are very few available. The market is $40-50K over and I dont think it will come down to MSRP any time soon. Just because there aren't very many around. So if you want one - you need to pay.

I think there will be some 08's as production stretches into '08 but those are still part of the 240 odd that Porsche is making for the US.

Now for those who compare a 997TT to a GT3 or a GT3RS, you simply dont know what you dont know. The GT2 will come out but its a turbo variant - raw and extremely/insanely quick.

The 996GT3 is also a great car. However, you cant compare a 997 GT3RS resale value or how it will hold its value to the 996Gt3 as they produced way more regular GT3's. So there are many more 996 GT3's available - priced from 75 to 90.

As for the 997 Gt3 RS - As Ferris said, "if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up"..

Congratulations. Enjoy your car I am sure - it will be great.

Awesome - You have to post pics when you get it. I love the GT3 and the GT3RS is just a little better.

I don't know if you saw the latest motor trend. They ranked the regular GT3 as the best handling car around. They did not include the F430 in the comparison - as they said that the GT3 out performed it in every single handling measure they use - and for $60,000 less cash.

So what a car is worth is what its worth to you. I am not saying I would take a GT3 over a F430 but you get my point. The GT3 had a better lap time around the circuit they used than a Z06.
