anybody know about the Hussein Ferrari Collection In Iraq
Not exactly.....several of Saddam's cars (including a red/tan Testarossa) were captured/recovered by Coalition forces and re-located to be auctioned off by the new Interim Govt. at a later date. No word as to when such an auction would take place, or where, or who could bid, etc. Some pics of Saddam's TR have floated around the internet - other than being very dirty, it appeared in one piece.
Stripped to the frame, then torched...... http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/22/double-jeopardy-iraqis-destroyed-udays-ferrari-too/
Yea, sure The day that those cars ever surface and are available for sale is the day Saddam comes back to rule.
The rambo lambo that the article is referring is to Uday's Lamborghini LM002 which was apparently used for explosive testing by US troops. A 550 was also destroyed.
What became of it...... http://www.leblogauto.com/2007/03/la-ferrari-550-maranello-duday-hussein.html
I wouldn't take those cars for free, knowing the stuff the hands that touched those cars did to other people. Sorry if that sounds melodramatic, it's just how I feel.
Naaa....wanna really have ole' Saddam and Co. twisting in their grave? Bring them Stateside, restore them, and drive them across country and give free rides to Veterans/Make-A-Wish/hot Jewish Girls, etc.
Restore them, auction them off at a charity event and give the proceeds to the victims of his torture campaigns.
Not that I liked the guy either, but I wouldn't mind a profitting from his loss. Although very costly, this is a totally rebuildable 550. Just think what a car with this historical importance would go for in 10-30 years? How much are Hitler's Mercedes cars going for?
Re. the 550, I think the timing belt broke because it's missing. Probably why he parked it. Probably bent valves.
