Jorge, I don't have to spec for maybe 20 Months, but I'm already thinking about it, definitely the Challenge Rims though :)

Andrew, my previous 550 was also TdF, I think it's time for a change, Rosso/ Tan looks great and the Metallic Black again maybe with Tan. When you get your Ferrari will it be in Paris? if it is send a PM and we'll come over to celebrate :D

Personally I think the 550 looks much better from the back then 599.

    Oh, my... *jaw drop*...

First day on the forum, so forgive me but I'm quite amazed at your taste (and, of course, availability of funds to purchase these cars). Congratulations, and great selection, the 599 is one of my favorite Ferrari's. :)

Rosso Corsa is the color i pushed my dad to order his. I love it in Rosso Corsa !

One question, did you find the steering to be over assisted/very loose ? I drove a 599 for a few blocks and thats the impression i got but it was mostly in town.

As for my first Ferrari , it will probably be in the US. Id love to have it in Paris but the career is here , at least for the moment.

I wrote below for some of my Caterham owning friends, my cooments on the Steering appearo t be at odds to yours

I was fortunate to get a drive in one Yesterday and thought I'd share my thoughts

From the outside it looks huge by comparison to the 575 and it is bigger, around a foot longer an inch wider and a couple of inches taller, I'm not sure the styling is as pretty as the 575 but then I remember when the 550 came out most people at least questioned it if not hated it, these days hte 550/575 is generally regarded as a pretty car so maybe it'll grow on people.

Simple things like Boot access and layout are much better although of course you are not really interested in this!. On stepping in it's clear to see the much more modern layout, the Recaro Seats are delightful and much more supportive than the 575's with a perfect driving position, rear three quarter view is non existant though so although inappropriate the stupidly priced parking sensors will be a must.

Pulling away is much smoother than the 575 and in normal use the change is smooth wthout the need for a lift, in Sport mode they're rocketship fast, didn't get into RACE mode as it was 'not available' as sadly was the Launch Control, to be fair to the 575 the F1 Gearchange is very good by comparison to early F1 technology but this is another step forward.

The 599 had only done 3k miles and I suspect the engine needs to loosen a bit, even so it's stupidly fast but then so is the 575 and I will no doubt be hearing from Wiltshire Constabulary in the next few days after being radar'd on the M4

The car very quickly shrinks around you and I found it easy to hustle it along a narrow B road without concern, not in a Caterham sort of way but impressive all the same. Ride is staggeringly good for 20" rims in normal mode, in sport there's a slightly harder edge but ride is still stunning, Steering feels more like an Elise Mk1, perfectly weighted with tons of feel and feedback and on heavily cambered and bumpy roads the car stayed rock solid.

Ultimately it is a staggeringly good car, worth the money?....... probably not but hey, nobody ever says Common Sense has to be applied . All in all I was sold on it in about 5 Minutes of getting in to it(or then again I might have been sold some months ago )

Mark. V happy for you mate. IMO the cost is irrelevant. Its got an Enzo engine, is more practical, almost as quick, and less than a third of the price. Bargain mate!

Thanks for the write up. Good to know that the car feels like an Elise and that it manages to stay solid on bumpy roads.
I guess my experience was tainted as i was coming out of a Stradale. I was scared Ferrari was over assisting its cars to sell to a larger crowd..but fortunately i was wrong.

Your gonna love it. I got a red that the dealer had in stock (Miami) for special customers, and got put in the front of the line for a custom one. I just received my black / black last week (traded back my red) and its awesome. this is the best vehicle ever built!
