I take 100's of photos of Ferraris a year. I try to post the better shots in this forum. One problem I have is distinguishing between 308s and 328s, 348s and 355 and 360s and 430s. Anything previous to that I have a pretty good handle on. I hate to make a reference to an incorrectly designated model.

Can anyone help me with a lesson on the subtle and not so subtle differences between the models?

    thanks

    Ken

Post up some pictures and we'll point out some key differences that will establish a guide for you to use in determining what's what.

I too have trouble between 308's and 328's, and also between 360's and 430's (unless seen from the rear). But I think 348's and 355's look pretty distinctive, and don't much resemble the others.

    I'll take a crack here:

    308 - BIG BLACK BUMPERS
328 - looks like a 308 without the big black bumpers
348 - The only model of those listed with the "cheese graters" on the sides and no round tail lights
355 - Shaped like the 348, but with no cheese graters and has round tail lights
360 - Looks like a big jelly bean with egg-shaped scoops under the front hood
430 - Looks like a big jelly bean, but with GIANT egg-shaped scoops under the front hood.

You could blame Pininfarina ;) -- they are all seriously good-looking!

How'd you like to have the job of doing something better than a 430 ;) -- not easy.

yes, and also notice the distictive air outlet in front of the front wheel.

    Good list.

The 360/430 still give me trouble unless I have a view of the rear lights. The 430 has the little Enzo-styled tail lights, while the 360 has 308/328/355-styled lights.

Actually the 550/575 are the ones that really stump me - I usually go by the wheels. Or the lettering on the center console...

The 360's headlights are wider and shorter than the 430's.

The 430's rear side vents (behind the C pillar) are bigger & wider than the 360's.

The 550's "smile" (front grill) is wider than the 575's smile.
That is, the 550 grill extends to the center of each of the front headlights, the 575 extends to the inside edge of each of the front headlights.

The 575's spoiler on the trunk lid is slightly higher than the 550's.

Whoa -- a 430 in boxer trim. I've never seen that before.

Back to the 308/328 -- the 328 has square door pulls embedded in the door skins, the 308 has a vertical pull at the top of the door.

360's front bumper is curvier than the F430's. You can also distinguish 360 vs an F430 by the tail lights.. they are in a different location. Their side mirrors are also different.

    I believe that is a 550 (not a 575).
Looks like TDF Blue in color.

The rear of the 575 sometimes says "575M" in chrome letters on the right side (to the right of the Prancing Horse emblem). Also, the wheels look more like the 550 era wheels than the newer 575 ones.

It is easier to tell the difference from the front between a 550 and 575.

I know the CS has different rims and a different interior, also on the back of the car there is black surrounding the taillights. Some CS also have a stripe running the length of the car.
