Well I bought the PS3 for F1 Champion Edition. The graphics are better than the XBOX's F1 2001(they had better be) but the game is not multiplayer on a single machine. The XBOX can support 4 players. The 360 supports F1. There is a bright spot, the 360's HD DVD player should work on the PS3 giving you both Blueray and HD DVD plus HDMI. stephen
I REALLY highly doubt that Microsoft would allow the HD-DVD player to work on the PS3. That would take some SERIOUS hacking.
Finally played the F1 CE game at a PS3 demo trailer, and I loved every minute of it. Didn't mess with many of the options, such as the driver aides and car settings. But it was way more fun than PGR3. You really do get the feeling of speed when the car accelerates off the line. Still keeping my fingers crossed that I'll either get a PS3 or they license will end and it will come out on 360.
My son has the 360 and the high tech dedicated steering wheel that has force feedback and I can tell you it is way closer to real life then anything else I have ever experienced. It is really fun. The Demo for the new Forza is expected any day and the final is scheduled for May 29th. We have seen real gameplay with what has to be the final graphics this close to arrival and it really sets a new standard. The best thing though is they have the the 430 GT2 Risi car from ALMS with Salo and Melo and looks great.
I have good feel through the controller, but I've been playing racing games since GT1. Forza2 for the 360 will be the best sim there is for a console. I don't bother with F1 only games.
Yeah I enjoy playing F1 CE with the controller. However, I played GT4 with my friends wheel and pedals. I found it to be a much more fun and interesting experience. It was difficult at first, oversteering happends much easier with that setup. It's enjoyable to adapt to it though. I plan on picking up one of these.
Wow, that looks amazing! I can't afford a PS3 but if I could, that would be the reason. I think I might try to save for the cheaper Xbox 360 so I can get Forza 2, that looks equally amazing.
The cars are sensitive to handling adjustments - interesting. Have played with toe (front only), wing settings, camber - turn off all driver aids. The tilt steering function sensitivity doesn't work for me. Interesting game, though Spa is missed.
LOL Actually I was thinking that next time I'm at a track event where a Ferrari shows up with a removable steering wheel, I'll have to sneak in a PS2 controller and take a couple of pictures. The worst IMHO are the folks who play the game with the perspective of the helmet camera or worse behind the car. My question to them is: When you drive your car, are you having an out of body experience flying behind it? Get real for Christ's sake!
I can't stand the out of car views on games, makes it incredibly hard to feel like you're actually driving the car. The inside the cockpit view in PGR3 is pretty coo, but sometimes it gets a bit annoying. All this racing sim talk is making me impatient for Forza2, I've actually spent a few dozen dollars at the arcade last week breaking the lap records of everyone on the F355 challenge sim.
Sorry pal, but you're betting on the wrong horse: Sony owns the copyright to force feedback. That leaves Microsoft with something like Forcefeedback, but it never feels the same. I have a PS2, an XBox, a PS3 and a XBox360 and wheels for all of them. Sony wins hands-down. My love for Ferrari is immense, but I gave up on XBox360 and won't buy Forza2. Instead I'm patiently waiting for GT4 HD for Sony PS3.
Well if you want to send me a PS3 I'd be glad to convert over I play more than just racing sims, and there's more games on the 360 that i'd rather play over the PS3 at the moment, that and the price is a bit prohibative. So I guess I'll just have to settle for my 'something like forcefeedback'.
Sorry, didn't mean to be nasty. It's just that you used the word "sim" and XBox360 in the same sentence. I use my XBox360 now as a DVD player. It is great since it can play NTSC, PAL and SECAM DVDs and completely ignores country codes.
This is the reply from Sony 'Thank you for writing us. Devices that can be properly plugged in to the USB port of your PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system do not have to be officially licensed by Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). However, the devices that are approved for use with the USB ports of the PLAYSTATION(R)3 system must either be made by SCEA or be USB certified. Typically, a USB certified product would have the official USB logo on the package, manual or on the "belly" label of the product itself. You will void your warranty on the PLAYSTATION(R)3 system if you plug devices into the USB port that are not USB certified. In addition, such devices can cause problems; for example, a device that is not USB certified might draw too much electrical power, thereby damaging your system. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we are unable to offer any information regarding specific USB devices. Maximum PC say the 360's HD DVD drive will work with PC's I just took the next step. stephen
Until GT gets damage, its not a sim. Forza2 > GT I loved all the GT's, then Forza brought me to the light.
F1 for PS3 has dammage modelling and I wouldn't be surprised if GT4 HD Concept has it too (dunno though). Even with the best of wheels the force feedback on XBox is very faint. You can feel it (I remember playing Forza on XBox), but it is nowhere near as "readable" as the feedback on GT4. I remember driving a Lancia Stratos through a bunch of S turns and to my amazement I felt the weight translation and everything.
I want the PS3 just for that game. I'm giving up Halo 3 for it. Only problem is I don't have any money. I did say want...
There are only three reasons I got the PS3: - F1 - GT4 HD Concept - Dirt (used to be McColin rally racing)
GTHD is already out I thought? But no, it does not have damage. It is unknown if GT5 (not the same as GTHD) will have damage. I think its due out ~1st quarter 08. My main positive with the 360 is Xbox Live. It has evolved very nicely
I'm quite confused over GT4 HD being released or not. I haven't seen it anywhere. Not even on ebay. I never play online.
I'm pretty sure you can download it with the PS3. I don't think anyone really has it on a disc. I never play single player anymore, online is a blast. Have you looked into "Dirt"? Its going to be quite a nice game. This is a video from xbox, but I'm pretty sure its coming out for PS3 also http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13130/Colin-McRae-DiRT-HD-Gameplay/ screenshots http://screenshots.teamxbox.com/gallery/1464/DiRT/p1 The graphics are great, and its one of the very few racers that will allow you to flip a car
