That's right. Target practice. There are a lot of those cars in my town ( Dartmouth College ). They drive around at 5 mph thinking they are saving the planet. Give me a break. If they where really serious, ride a bicycle or a horse.

I love the Prius. Supply and demand, baby. They use less gas, which means more for the rest of us. (Plus this attitude is the only way I can tolerate the stink eye, holier than though attitude I get from some their drivers.)

    I like billy bob.

And Clarkson just went up a notch in my book, too.

Whoa! A horse would definitely kill the planet. The nitrous oxide from their manure is a greenhouse gas, too! And a horse is always running. ;)

And did you know that twelve percent of greenhouse gasses from the US are from livestock? Damned cows are heating up the world.

I didn't make this stuff up, either.

I've always wondered.... why would anyone think that a regular car, that's maybe 40% efficient in converting fuel into motion would produce more heat and greenhouse gasses than a person on a bicycle huffing out CO2 at about a 10% efficiency rate?

OK, not really fair considering weight...but then would a bicycle cause less environmental effect than a moped at 175mpg?

I find it interesting that people seem to feel that the conversion of fuel to motion is free if not involving a mechanical device.

Maybe they should ride the cows. Then they (the cows ) would be good for three things, milk, meat and transportation.

PETA would never allow it. Protesting everywhere, and such.

Plus, it's pretty difficult to get a cow to do much of anything useful. Just watch "the view."

Well you see you're *thinking* rather than "feel[ing]."

The uber-environmentalists would have you reduce the world's human population down to a couple million. So a lot of that damned unnecessary breathing would be solved, anyway.

I wonder how many miles per hamburger I get walking. . .

The funniest part was the way Clarkson pronounced "baboon."

    Regarding the Prius.....
    a) It looks ridiculous. An egg on skateboard wheels.
    b) People around where I live aren't d-bags when they drive it so I don't mind them. However, if they ever get the opportunity to talk about their beloved Prius you'd best grab a Snickers bar.
    c) I like that people are willing to part with their money to use less gas. The Prius isn't for me, but from a social and economic perspective, I think it's great that some people want to use less gas. As far as "Gore-bal warming" -- wait, "climate change" -- I'm not convinced of its existence, but if it will drive people to use less fuel and develop more efficient A-to-B transportation, I'm all for it. Just don't take it so far as to use unproven theories as a basis for laws that restrict my freedoms, thankyouverymuch.

But seriously, anybody with 1/2 a brain would realise that the Golf tdi is more economical, practical, useful, free of maintanance, sporty, fun in every respect ect.

I live near Berkeley CA, I'm certain home to more Priuses than any other place on the planet. And the owners will run you off the road and steal your parking place just like any other car owners.

I don't mind the actual cars, but the owners are really out there.

Somewhere I have a photo I took of a Prius owner defacing a posted "no trespassing" sign. I'll have to dig that up...

Are they just extremely slow moving away from a light? Or is it the driver?

I always seem to end up tailgating them, even in my Jeep, which isn't exactly Enzo-like off the line. In fact I thought it was a genuinely pokey vehicle until all these Priuses started popping up.

Then I was out in the 328 this morning and some Prius guy made a point out of moving in front of me to get the first position at the traffic light. I don't know if he was just trying to slow me down or what, but it was pretty annoying.

That`s what they do. Try to slow everybody down. They think what is good for them is good for everybody. We have a LOT of Subaru's around here with " save the world ", " hug a tree " etc. bumper stickers on them that do the same thing. Very annoying.

Not my Subaru. It's modded, fast, gas-guzzling, decatted and positively (ob)noxious. I'd sport a "Rape the World, fell a tree" sticker if I could find one. :D :D

Well, as opposed to a car which you turn on and off, a horse, unless dead, is always eating, farting, defecating, breathing, consuming energy, and otherwise warming up the planet, speeding up certain doom for us all. ;)

They're freaking everywhere in my home town. As a general rule of thumb, I never drive behind a mini-van or a prius. They are always going slow.
