May sound like a dumb question, but I've never once seen a prancing horse in a junkyard or selling for cheap... What do you owners do with any of your cars that just aren't worth the money anymore, and aren't in a condition to be sold?

They are shipped back to Ferrari and put into a giant graveyard for Ferraris in an undisclosed location.

    Haha, riiight...

No but seriously, you see plenty of Ferrari's crashed into trees/guard rails/etc, how many have you seen sitting dead in a junk yard or being sold for $10k? Obviously I'm not talking supercars, maybe a 308 or something close to it.

Probably eventually fixed or parted out. There's always a market for an F-car.

I know of two salvage yards dealing with Ferrari, one in Costa Mesa CA, the other in Rancho Cordova CA. I'm sure there are others.

Probably parted out as posted above. When you get a bit more familiar with the cars, you'll be stunned to find out that "even a lowly 308" has Ferrari parts costs and can be profitably mined for parts.

The other aspect is that after a while all Ferraris are worth restoring. It wasn't that long ago that 246s and Boxers were regarded in the same light as you and others regard 308s. Time has a way... So you won't see many Daytona carcasses sitting around, for example.

Thirdly, and maybe obviously, Ferraris are rare and tend to be looked after. I would guess a huge percentage of them are still on the road.

They get cut up and sold for parts generally. Places like TR have been cutting up 308's like mad for years, and they aint alone.

A copy of the Ferris Bueller car, although a replica of a Ferrari to begin with, was hung engineless from the cieling at Planet Hollywood at the Mall of America until they closed. They pawned it off on everyone as a real Ferrari and the actual movie car but it was niether. But you could imagine someone doing something simular with a real Ferrari. Probably not a 250 spyder though, lol.

So I would assume thats the two ways they go. Or three. Some just sit out back somewhere slowly deteriorating until someone with enthusiasm decides to begin a rescue. 0052 falls into that category.

Grrrr, damn you and your beautiful California... Here I don't see any Ferrari's ON the road no less in a junk yard. Hmmm, I can't wait to move to SD, but that's only after I'm not poor :(

Heh, I can't afford a project and I don't know how to do body work anyways... I was just curious as to what actually happened to those that bite the dust. That being said, if anyone wants to get me Enzo wheels for free I'd probably sign my soul over for a set of 4. :)

That silver 512M should buff out nicely. The others look like test crash sacrifices. Are they cars you've gone through, you asphalt demon??

PAP, I hope you have the VIN's for the 355's. You know that 285ferrari (Robbie) is going to want them for his registry.

Quite a few exotics around Reno actually.....no Enzos that I'm aware of though.....:p I never see 348's here for whatever reason, one of the reasons I want one.

We'll just build a bridge.:D I have most of my Dad's side of the family in SFV, so I'm in Cali quite a bit, I just can't see myself living there!:)
