Well, I finally have the 328 up on stands and the tires off the rims to have them restored/repainted. The question is; where can I get new valve stems? Do there rims only take the stems that came with them, or are these stems even the original ones? What I have are Michelin 1446 stems (at least that's what's stamped on the inner surface.) The reason I'm asking, is that after I left the tire shop to take the rims to my body man, I noticed that only two of the four valve stems still had the black rubber sealing O-ring. For the life of me I can't find an online site selling this particular valve stem, or at the minimum, the O-ring. Also, is it just a standard O-ring that any tire-store would have, and it should be a problem to replace them when they mount the new tires? SORRY for all the questions, but I couldn't find this out on my own and have found this is the BEST place to ask!

I can never find anything at Ricambi, as their search by description function doesn't work well, and I don't know any of the Ferrari part number to do a search that way. Is there a catalog that has the part number so I can do these searches via part number in the future? And thanks! Ordered 4 of them just now. The ones I have appear not to be the originals.
I admit, our search function is pretty bad. 1. I'll put a CD-ROM with the parts book into the box for you on Monday morning. 2. We're the first to admit that searching isn't easy on our site. 3. We are in the final stages of the new website, which (hopefully) will launch in June. Parts catalog for 328 shows part number 105069 as the OEM valve rather than 174166 as linked. (ref. TAV.50, 51 October 88 parts catalog) Is there a difference? Ricambi shows 174166 @ $12.80/ea and 105069 @ $14.70/ea.

The driver's side rear tire on my 328 keeps losing pressure. It's a slow leak, but it'll lose about 1/2 of the air in 24 hours. I had the tire checked for leaks and none were found. I had a well-regarded local shop remount the tire and, no dice, it still leaks. The tire is nearly new and held its pressure very well until a few weeks ago (no, I haven't been driving the car on this wheel/tire). I assumed that the problem may be in the valve stem, and I found this thread, but I don't know if this is something I can easily install my self. Is there anyway I can test the current stem at home?
I just got 4 valve stems from Ricambi the other day. Fast and a great price. I made a mistake of installing new Goodyear F1 on two 550 wheels without changing the stems and now one of them is leaking. So i installed new stems on my other two wheels. All is good. To replace the stem, don't bother, there is no way to push the tire down. Unless you are Superman. You'll end up droping the stem inside the tire after you unscrew it. To check for a leak just put some soap/suds on the stem and check for the tiny bubbles. Good luck.
Thanks. I'll probably order a couple of new stems no matter what. I assumed the tire place checked the stem for leaks, but since they didn't have that replacement part (as the tech noted with a chuckle), they may not have bothered. I'll be irritated if I have to cross that place off my list. I wondered if there was a way to re-torque the stems (if they're even screwed in) to improve the seal.
