This white one suppose to be a pink Ferrari as I promised my little daughter.

i just had a question (mainly for lucky, but any help is great help!) i'm going to re-attempt to paint my murcie, the thing is i can't take the front window out, its like riveted onto the car, and its one piece from the front window to teh back bonnet..i got everything else off, i just can't seem to take this one piece off because of the rivets (atleast i think they're rivets), i have another front window i can put on, so even IF it broke i can replace it, but id rahter not have it broken...heres a pic of it..i circled the parts that are annoying! lol

All right then. You have a couple of options. They both need finesse but I have faith in you
A) if you have a dremel motor-tool, then grind the edges of "the rivets" which would allow you to remove the window molding freely. I like to use a small cutting wheel which (this is the finesse part) can mess up the surrounding area around the "rivet".
B) you can use just a regular drill. You need it to be the size of the outer diameter of the "rivet" and NOT press, so it grinds just the surface of the "rivet" so the molding can just come off.(again it needs some finesse)

In both cases you need to leave some of the "rivet" in place to be able to reattach the clear molding once you are done with your paint job.
Before you even start, take some masking tape and stick it on top of you visors and once you press it so it adheres smoothly to the surface, trace your visors with a pen and peel the tape off. Buy a thick sheet styrene plastic (any hobby shop should carry it) and apply the templates you made for you visors.
Cut them out of the sheet and just peel off the tape left on them. With an Exacto knife cut off the original visors from the roof liner molding and replace them with you new ones (they would need to be painted) This would make them look more realistic but most important- it will hide the holes on the moldings. For the rest of the holes just make another template from masking tape (the paper greenish or blue that you can find in wallmart) and just cut it out and painted after you apply it to the inside of the roof. The coolest thing about it is that it will give you almost perfect texture AND hide the holes.
My advise.... try it first, before you repaint and assemble everything so you can see how it works, if you are up to it, and most importantly if you like the results.

Let me correct and clear myself. The second template needs to be of the whole ceiling liner. One piece. Or if you like it better two pieces for the left and right without covering the center (it would preserve the detail on it).
Also I would make the visors just one idea larger than the template so they can fully cover the voids left from the old ones that need to be cut out.

 

OK, here is something I am almost finished with.It needs just minor touch ups, clean up and I have not decided if to put vintage license plates on it or not. Oh and it still needs four little "thingies" on the rear behind the seats, that the roof attaches to .
It has aluminum wheels and exhaust. Photoetched emblems all around. Three piece steering wheel (actually it is 6 piece)which is still operational. Metal shifter. Carpet. Real lenses in the headlights (which were total PIMA) Photoetched wipers and locks-including the glove box.All the gauges are there(the original model has just plain white circles) and even an ignition key in the ignition.(I ran out of patience before I managed a keyring)Did I mentioned the two tone paint?! Each wheel is 8 pieces.
This was a model I just wanted in my collection to look nice next to the BBR and CMC and mattel just did not fill the void so I took matters in my own hands but decided that I am not going to touch the mechanical parts. So I guess this makes this model's beauty just skin deep

Next on the list is a couple of different F40 LM's and a Lusso with full detail.However don't hold your breath for them because I don't have much time lately. By the way I would like all of you guys to tell me what color do you think I should paint the Lusso (other than red) that would really show all the beauty of the car.The color with the most votes wins.
Ah, and I forgot to tell you that I have a 599 (california) Spider (in similar colors as the one pictured above) which is almost done and would be the perfect compliment to the model I just finished.I think they would look stunning next to each other.

thanks for the great tips, i'm looking to paint the model either all white and have the stock body kit painted black...or....paint it all flat black (kind of like a stealthy look) with the orange interior...i also have a set of chrome rims that MOST likely i'll be painting black as well, im going to see how the chrome looks before painting them! As well i'm ggoing to add into the interior a bottle of NOS, a tv and a carbon fiber wing on the back...i don tknow how long its going to take, but i HOPE to be done it by next week...

i'll keep it posted on here..

I really like the color. Nice work. Looks really neat. But what happened to the emblems? Plus you need to wet-sand it and buff it out. It still looks awesome though!

How did you strip the paint? I'm just in the process of doing my first ever model mods (started on a Viper - saving the F40 for later ) and sanding everything by hand is being a... female dog

 

Stick it in a media blaster..

 

Thought of that, but wondered what the costs would be . Don't have one myself

 

Just use paint stripper - Paint it on, work it in with a brush, wait a few minutes and it'll just fall off. Wear gloves and keep the area well ventilated.

 

I bought some paint solvent/thinner (more or less the same as stripper, yes?) but it seems to have nearly no effect on my BBurago models Hence the question..

 

Try Easy Off oven cleaner. Spray it on, wait 30 minutes and wipe it off. Thats what I use.

 

Just use the paint stripper.Be ware when you are using it.
You have to wear gloves and breathing mask when brushing it on the models.
Keep it far away from your skin.It works but it's also poisonous.
Wait for 30 mins and then wipe the paint off with steel brush.
It's no need to sand it except the plastic parts.
