360 Heater Problem

I have just bought a 2003 360M F1 and love it, however I am having a problem with the heater/AC. The system has a mind of its own, the car only has 7k on it and the AC was recharged at the service in January. I can turn the temp all the way up and sometimes it increases the heat sometimes not. On manual the fan increases as you turn up the knob. The Auto buttons don't do anything to help. As I don't have a warranty I keen to try and find the problem myself, any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem with my 2004 360......

 

Are we long lost twins? I also just bought a 2003 360 coupe F1 with what seems to be a bad heater. With the vent control on manual, Stop button pushed in, the temperature dialed way up, and the fan speed on auto or manual speed 1, there is no heat coming from the vents. According to the manual, the heater still works when the Stop button is pushed in, right?

 

The manual is incorrect. The STOP button needs to be out for the heater to work.

 

And for the A/C to work!

 

I still laugh at a Jeremy Clarkson quote from a Top Gear video I saw...

Reffering to Italian A/C systems:
"It's sort like an asmatic blowing at you through a straw..."

In our QP the A/C kind of huffs and puffs at you.

 

Yes, the heater will work with the stop button pushed in, but **ONLY** when you had the stop button out long enough for the air in the system to get warm. In other words, once you get the air to the temperature you want (by making sure the stop button is out), then, when you push the stop button in, the system will go to "vent" mode and maintain that temperature. You can only *change* the temperature with the stop button out.

 

How come you software guys always come up with a neat fix for a "bug"!

I agree with this post. On my 360 the button if pushed goes in (heater/AC off) or stays out (all on). The button out controls the heater or the AC. The refresh mode is the same.

By the time they do that they will have reversed the process and then we'll all be very screwed up!

 

No problem! I'll take a 430 as payment. Heck, I'll take a ride in a 430 as payment!

 

They may decide to make the accelerator pedal work just like the A/C button: stop the car when pressed.

 

It's quite possible that if they strike again that might just be the case!

The recirc button on mine pops out, often after a few seconds. Is this normal?

 

Don't think so.

 

You might try loosening the decorative cover plate screws and adjusting by slight moving.

It's possible your "STOP" button is binding.

 

The heating system has its only little ECU which can fail. I had to have mine replaced on the CS, I had AC but no heat. Took a while to get round to fixing it since I didn't drive it too much when it was cold (<40F and the tires don't work at all...).

 

No not normal.
