    Guys,

Ive put together a non-profit site devoted to auto dealer complaints. Id like to start keeping records for those of us who buy higher end cars remotely, as we can keep a "list" of the folks who are hard to deal with or are less reputable.

Rob.. If its ok.. Ill post the url?? Just let me know. I dont want to break the rules. Its a non profit site with no advertising or charges of anykind.
    Thanks

    Dave

Just an idea. To protect from defamation of character issues, you should probably have a mechanism for those dealers to post their side of the story. Similar to eBay feedback.

    yep.. dealer response is encouraged...

Lawyer gave me the ok yesterday for the current set up. Also is limited to "Factual" info.. no personal attacks..etc.
    personal Attacks will be deleted.
Also has a section to compliment dealers that do well.

On one of the wrist watch sites they have a "good guys" and "bad guys" section. Good feedback is equally important so the site isn't a "witch hunt." Calling it "an auto dealer complaints" site suggests that most will be negative IMO. Of course haven't even seen what you're talking about.

I believe that you've got the right sentiment, but the wrong process.

You're coming from the angle that there are lots of good and lots of bad dealers.

I don't see it like that.

All of the dealers are awful, save for a precious few.

So you just need a white list...just the good guys.

For instance, if you search for "good" dealership experiences on fchat, you'll find fewer than ten dealerships that get rave customer feedback, year after year.

For all other dealerships, whether you'd heard about them or not...don't shop there. If customers aren't bragging about them, then they are part of the vast majority of crappy dealerships.

No need to track all of the bad dealerships when you look at it like that...they're all bad save for a precious few.

You just need the names of those few good ones...and those few are really, really good.

If you try to track all of the bad dealerships, then you've got to keep in mind that the bad ones will frequently change names, change locations, change management, put different "front men" in charge of them, etc.

Do you really want to track all of that?!

    I say, "no way!"

I just look at it more simply. If you've never heard of a dealership: it's bad.

In fact, they are all bad except for a few really good ones that have reliable feedback from their customers year after year.

That's all that you need to track: who gets great feedback year after year.

That's a "white list." A list of the good guys.

    Everybody else is just spam.

Quite an idea - turning the tables on the stealerships.....make THEM work to get on a list!!! Ironic Justice at its best.

Those already on the White List would want to retain their status, and keep their names, while the "Boardwalk/nee Risi" stealerships would hopefully fall by the wayside somehow when a dealership changes hands and/or upper management. Perhaps FoNA will take notice and pull inventory/status from the gits until they stop embarrassing the make and brand.
    Well, I can hope.

Good luck with this endeavor, Dave.

good idea... but it will never happen. It would likely violate terms of the frachise agreement.

when you remove allocation you remove profit from a store... and there is a lot of legal paperwork between FoA and the store owner that would likely limit this

Many cry babies and ass kissers keep a watchful eye on these forums and will use whatever they can find to try and get ahead with their dealers of choice. I don't know your position or influence but, you could be going to the black list with this one.

I think this is something that potentially can be abused especially by anonymous users or people who have an axe to grind... Problem is as you are the web site owner it is YOUR problem if they slander a legit dealer and they get mad at you.

Don't know what you intend to get out of this. Potentially this kind of headache is not something I would want to have anything to do with it. There are plenty of "xyzsucks.com" sites out there. Usually the person who has somehow felt slighted enough to put something like that together has a specific grievance that they have decided to go and sling crap over.

Most Dealerships are just that BUSINESSES who are in the business of making money. calling them crooks and stuff is not fair to the honest ones and there are plenty of them.

How bout doing something unique like Good Dealer reports.
