Recently my battery went dead on my 2000 550 Maranello. After recharging, and in response to the "CODE" prompt, I tried to reset my radio by entering the 4-digit pin code. After entering the first three digits the " * " symbol went blank but on the 4th digit the display read "WAIT".

Is there some special sequence I am not following, or as the battery was dead could the unlock code have somehow changed?

    Thanks

What did your book say to do? Let's go from there. Little devils are tricky.

The manual simply said to punch in the 4-digit code (found on a card included with my radio/Hi Fi manual). The display read CODE ****
and said that after entering each digit, the * would disappear (which it did)
except for the last digit. After entering the last of the 4 digits the display
read WAIT. The manual said that this is the response to an incorrect entry.
After 3 incorrect entries you have to wait 60 min (with the ignition on) before you can try again.
