So, does that mean that the Ferrari Challenge weekend will also feature the reunion of 86426 and 86427?
Who is going? I am thinking of Sunday only and would like to meet up with some people. Are VIP passes still available? Russell
Saturday and Sunday look about the same for activities, but there will probably be more people there on Sunday. Ferrari still has VIP passes available and I doubt they will sell out like they did at Homestead. Most of the activity will be in the paddock, but there will be a meeting point for F-people on the hill over turn 5. Look for the FCA white EZ-Up which will be there Saturday and Sunday all day.
Like Sanford and Son ? Like The Captain & Tenille ? Like Scooby and Shaggy ? Like Sonny & Cher ? Me thinks so.
do remember that in vintage races...cars may have mechanical issues that preclude them from running on sunday. i have been watching vintage races for years and it usually seems the case that more cars run on saturday...not always but often. at any rate...it is gonna be fun!!!!
Go to www.ferrarichallenge.com and click on Historic Challenge/Cars. There are also lots of photos from previous events under Multimedia/ Photos. I have not seen an entry list for VIR, however.
i was just wandering if we would maybe see a pontoon findered testerossa or a GTO. cause either one of those would make my year
Im thinking of flying down for the race if I can talk my better half into a get away weekend. I live in NH and Ive never attended a Challenge race and would live to see one. The Historic race is a major bonus. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel with Golf / Spa close by? Also what is the closest major airport? Do you need a VIP pass to get to the special FCA viewing area that was mentioned?
Last time I was there a few years ago there were several pontoon testarossas. I don't believe there was a GTO there... but hey... you never know about this coming event.
tony wang often races his pontoon fendered car...i would bet he will be there and tom price may be racing his gto. i saw price's gto race in coronado last october and he was doing it justice!!!!
i was looking on the historics website and it seems there have been 2 gtos running in the past 2 events. hope they come to vir
Best Hotel/Spa is Berry Hill Resort & Spa in South Boston, VA, about 30 minutes NE of VIR. There are several lesser hotels in Danville, VA, closer to VIR. The closest airports are Greensboro (1 hour SW), Raleigh-Durham (1 hour SE) and Lynchburg (about 1-1/2 hours N). Danville has a good private airport and is the closest to VIR but no commercial flights. You don't need a VIP pass to get into anything except the FNA hospitality tent. The track has plenty of beautiful viewing areas besides where I'll put up the FCA tent (it's just a 10X10 Easy-Up).
The hotels of choice would be the Sleep Inn (Danville, VA) or Berry Hill (South Boston, VA). There are others in Danville, but you'll need to just Google them. Closest airports are RDU or GSO (1 hour away).
This is from the "most high of places." Preliminary list: The cars entered are: Alfa 8C/35 Alfa Tipo B Maserati 200 SI Maserati 200 SI Maserati 250F Maserati 300S 250 GT SWB Comp 250 GTO 250 GTO/64 275 GTB 275 GTC 365 GTB/4 Comp 250 LM 512 BB/LM 512 BB/LM 512 BB/LM 512 BB/LM 308 GT/M 308 GTB/M
I'll be there all day Friday, Saturday & Sunday! (It's so nice living just 45 minutes away from VIR.) I'm really looking forward to watching and photographing all the historics. Can't quite swing the VIP passes, but looking forward to meeting fellow F-chatters there.
some serious machinery!!!! of all the cars, i have seen them all but the 512 lm...i really want to see those monsters!!
Thanks Juan-Manuel. I know who your source is and it's higher than the high. Absolutely dependable. Wish you would come to VIR instead of chasing the little white ball. Why not drive over late Saturday Night? You've done crazier things before and it's only 3 hours in a Yellow Challenge car.
I will be at a Dyno on Saturday May 19th with a Bunch of Hondas and Dick Bear is displaying his K20 Mcbearen/McLaren (Pic Below). I will def make it to the race on Sunday for the Ferrari challenge and I'll see if Dick will bring his beast up there. I will have my camera charged and ready to go this time. Thanks Bob, I may just do that. I am hoping Ferrari of Washington will be delivering my car on the Challenge truck at VIR on Thursday, I pray it will be ready. Since I had the exhaust value spit out the tail pipe at Roebling (see, open exhaust is good for more that one thing), I thought what the heck, paint it too. A full panel off paint job. So, I may be there Thursday, and perhaps back on Sunday. By the way, no white ball chasing for me. The Dragon on Friday Morning, over 70 cars signed up, and then Mt Mitchell or the Wolf Lauel Hill climb on Saturday while they play golf. Roland is doing a demo at the hill climb. As you know, we have rented the Biltmore for Saturday night. www.ferraricup.net I was also told there would be many more historic cars, but they will be at the Millie Miglia and at Maranello for the 60th anniversary of Ferrari. I'll see if I can bring a crowd back with me.
