What a beautiful Ferrari. I love these cars, especially in the different shades of blue. I wish I could afford to find and restore one in a blue with tan/cream color combo. I wonder what they cost these days. Until then, I'll just drool over yours!

    1) Thanks for the compliment. No bragging intended, I looked at quite a few and I believe it is one of the nicest 5-speeds in the US. Which considering there were only 68 of them ever in the US may not be saying much. :)

    2) Don't try to kid yourself restoring a 400i either auto or a 5-speed will cost you a TON. Buying a rough car can be tempting but remember the cost of the car is just the initiation fee to the 400i club. Then the real cash outlay starts. Just a few examples; a distributor cap runs over $700, windshield $2,000, leather seat covers $2,500 just for the fronts, front turn signal lens $1,200, and on and on. Once you get them sorted out they are GREAT cars and not very expensive to operate, but to make them right they'll eat 10 grand so fast it'll make your head spin.

    3) If you can find one a nice 400i 5-speed will run you mid to high 30's.

Wow! Thanks for the info Dave. I didn't realize they were so expensive to restore. I have been lucky with my 2 seperate Ferrari purchases in that the owners took very good care of the cars before I bought them. I did have to spend a bit on my Boxer but that was mostly for mechanical freshening from prior lack of use by the previous owner. So again, I'll just drool over your car!

I didn't know the 4 yr olds in Texas were so tall and allowed to drive. You look like you have just swam in the fountain of youth. I guess all of us whom own or strongly desire these beautiful Grand Touring cars still let the kid in us thrive. You probably have a full tank and nowhere to go? Thanks for the great photos. Your car is exquisite. Keep sharing. How about some more pictures like Daves from the rest of you guys. I'm looking at a 73 GT4 2+2 in the Southern California area at the end of this month. I will keep you all informed. I feel like a kid weeks before his 5th birthday. Take care and thanks again Dave for the pics.

The expression on Dave's face is typical of 365 GT4/400 series drivers!

Here are some shots of my brother and dad at the wheel of my 400i.

    Good luck with the GT42+2.
