Has anyone dealt with the service department at MAG in Ohio, http://www.magcars.com/? My Lotus needs its' cam belt either adjusted or replaced in the near future and MAG is the closest dealership to me.

    Are they reputable?

    Thanks, Matt

I used to have my porsches serviced there - (that has been a number of years) they were always pretty good.

I would just give Jack a call at www.ferrariguys.com - they work on most cars and the price point is going to be much less (with better service) than anywhere I have seen.

If it is under warranty and you have to go to a dealer - Mag is not a bad choice in my past experience.

Hard to say. The last time I dealt with them was about 3-4 years ago and undoubtedly, there have been changes. They were OK but certainly no better than that. They completely misdiagnosed a simple problem and charged me $300 for the favor.

I second Rich's suggestion. Give Jack a call and see if he'll work on the car. The Ferrari Guys are outstanding!

    Matt,
Autocar in Indy is closer to you than MAG. Both will pick up and deliver though. Sat at the Tech Session they had both Lotus and 308's on lifts. It kind of looked like your garage!

Pull it out and goto Acme on Baxter. They rebuild the starters and alternators for everybody in town. I had my Porsche alt. rebuilt for @$175 with all new parts and regulator.

    Is Autocar a Lotus dealer?

The Lotus web site directed me to MAG as the closest. I should have mentioned that the cam belt is a warranty item. Lotus will do mine for free because my car still has its' original. My fear is I send the car to them and then they call me with the old "Did you know this is..." trick. Because the car will be so far away I can't just pick it up.

Years ago he did Lotus warranty work, but recently one was in the shop with a rattling cat and the Owner called Lotus to see if Brian could do the work on their behalf. Lotus referred the owner to MAG, so he is not real sure where he stands. You could call them and inquire if They would authorize the repair at Autocar.

By the way, what have they discovered that makes a cam belt a warranty issue?

My owner's manual says to change the belt every 8 years or 100,000 miles, but I have read on the Lotus boards that they will change them one time on the V8's for free. I have read that they do not last 100,000 miles and an engine rebuild is very expensive so to avoid this issue Lotus will change it for free.
