My five-car garage is no longer enough. I'm looking, but can't find, a nice property with more garage space in the Boulder north-to-Loveland area, and/or east-to-Greeley area. Willing to spend $$$$ for the right setup. I've seen BigBoyToyBoxes.com and other realtors' offerings but nothing appeals. Been looking for months. Anybody moving or contemplating selling something that would meet my described needs?
    Thanks for all responses.

Ric, are you looking for something that is already built or raw land & then build.. I would opt for the latter, that way you can design what you want..
I don't have any properties, heck I'm not even in the biz, but I know a good builder. He built my home and is very user friendly..When I built in '92 I wasn't into cars so much and I didn't do alot of planning in the garage area, (other than 3 car size) but the builder did! High ceilings, deeper garage, for future work bench/area, wider areas so you don't have to squeeze around your cars..
I look at my neighbors garage & feel confined...
Before I built I looked around alot!..these cookie cutter builders/sites give you one, maybe two or three options..I didn't want that! Sound like you don't either..
IIRC my builder prefers to work in the north area also..He may even have vacant lot for you..
Let me know if this is something you may want to pursue.

    Hi Ric,
Just remember that you are now on a very slippery slope- the same one I'm on. Bought a house a few years ago with a 10 car garage- 2200 sq ft garage/shop on two floors (you visited and looked at my Euro glass 308 GTB a couple years back). Now that garage is pretty full and I have a storage garage full as well. Now we are shopping for another house with more land and garage space. My point is, that no matter how big the garage, it always gets full. If you are going to move, simplify your life and just look for a house with a 25 car garage now, saves on moving expenses. If you decide to move south, our house will be on the market- 15 minutes from campus if you drive like you and I do.

    JMN,
I would relieve you of the glass 308 if you like. I still have a slot.

    Ric,
I wish you good luck on your quest. What does Joy say?

    Best,
    Dave

Thanks guys. Great to hear from all of you.
I'd rather buy a house with enough real estate so that I can add a nice, well designed garage. Building from scratch these days seems almost unnecessary and a bit risky given the economic climate and the overabundance of new houses. Buying built and then either modifying or adding would be my preference.
That being said, at this juncture, I will not discount any possibility especially if a good builder and a particularly desireable piece of real estate shows up. Time and headaches dealing with a building project loom large in my psyche, that's all.
Joy says she has to have a view of the mountains and would like it to be between Boulder and Greeley (so, north and east of Boulder) since she's the one comuting to UNC three days a week.
Other than that, 3 to 4 bedrooms, preferably no HOA fees, a little acreage, trees and no dirt roads.
    Are we asking the impossible?

You ever think of getting a nice industrial warehouse spot? some of those area's can hold a decent amount of cars and might only be 5-10 min out depending on where you live.

Yeah there are a lot more homes to the south of Boulder that have your preferences. Good luck with your search!

    Fellow Ferraristi,
Just found and bought a house with ten garages in the heart of Boulder county! My present house (five-car garage, library, wine cellar, etc) is, therefore, on the market. As soon as I can figure out how to subscribe to F-Chat I'll post details in the FerrariAds section. Meanwhile, just pm me if you're interested. Thank you to those who responded to my initial query, I look forward to hosting a garage warming party for all of the local F owners later this summer. No need to bring vino rosso the first time to use the lift.
