    If you are going to also replace the weatherstrip, cut the old one into pieces about 2" long. Lay the cover in the sun to get warm. Remove the old weatherstrip & cover and lay the new one down (it is oversized and designed to lay over the vertical lip). Use the 2" strips of old weatherstrip to hold the new cover in place while you push the new weatherstrip on.

    Hello Rui, et al.,
    The compartment cover goes on easily and is secured by the rubber molding around the edges. Just installing the molding stretches the cover. It laps over the metal lip and is held in place by the molding. The trick is to not get it too tight or too loose. Easier to do than it seems.
