If anyone knows of a good F355B, please let me know. I need a rosso corsa / tan Berlinetta, 6 speed (I don't need no stinking computer to shift for me - and I work in IT!), USA car with strong compression.

The ideal car would have steel valve guides, QV or better headers, 200+ psi, recent reputable major, great leather, tires and clutch, no stickies or sail paint spidering, and perfect cosmetics. I wouldn't be mad if it had luggage :)))

I know that I may have to do some/all of this myself, but that's what my budget has to cover.

Any leads will be greatly appreciated!

Man, you aren't asking too much! :p

This was my search target as well and I found a nice 348 before one of these came along - and that's after 1 year. Good luck dude, but wouldn't you really want a 348 Serie Speciale or Challenge instead?! Be a man and join the elite of the brotherhood! :D

If this is what you want---don't look at anything less than a 98 or 99---what kind of mileage do you mind??

Only a '98 or '99? Good luck finding a proper 6-speed then! I think any well-looked after car is fine - with 1995's running a bit stronger that some of the later ones.

I came into my purchase looking for the most pure 355 I could find. After 8 months, I realized that I was wasting time and if I just pulled the trigger, it would be more fun. Also, I bought a car that wasn't absolutely pristine so I wouldn't feel bad when it got its first rock chips from actually DRIVING it.

He wants a car with steel valve guides---A pre 98 car will not cut it....Unless he finds an early one with the guides replaced already. Proper 6 speed?? There were more 6 speed cars during 98 and 99 produced than F1 ...

So how rare is a '99 F1 Berlinetta? Do you have stats on how many are produced?

I'm not fanatical about mileage - I'd love for it to below 15k, but can live with more (fro less money :))

From all the stories I read here, it would seem that many of the early cars have been fixed by now.

Probably asking entirely too much - but the world says "Yes" until you ask!
Actually, I've seen a spyder and GTS meeting these criteria in the last month - but I gotta have a Bee!

I'd probably love a 348, but I feel the need to get in touch with my inner hairdresser :)))))))))

No it's not too much to ask. Cars like that are out there but it's just getting more difficult to find and come by.

I found mine, an US rosso corsa/tan '99 Berlinetta fitting all your requirements except it's a F1 with original headers, last December. PPI yields 245psi and perfect in & out with 4.9K miles.

Are you sure you only want a 6-speed? Have you tried F1? It's a blast to drive with the paddle shifts once you've got to know how to use them. No, Im' not selling mine. Just want to make sure that you really don't want an F1 car.

Be patient. You'll find your car. It's out there. Good luck.

yes it is a little high, but dealer prices generally are - remember that is the asking price--not the sale price..

I know that the paddle shifters appeal to a lot of folks, but it's just not what I'm in it for. If you're looking for a track car, by all means. If it was faster for Schumaker, it's faster than me. I'm looking for a street car, and the F1s that I've ridden in were not well-suited to slow speed driving. And there's the maintenance costs...

All the magazine reviewers rave over the rev-matching on downshifts - excuse me, but doesn't everybody do that? I've driven Formula Fords (non-synchro gearboxes) for over 1000 miles and never even heard a sound from the gearbox, much less miss a shift. I can match revs all by myself, thank you very much. And determine how much clutch slippage I want.

I don't need no stinking computer to shift for me!!!

    +1

I think they've had that car for a bit, probably because the price is a tad high, but also because it's not a convertible or targa.

I bought my 328 there. If you're serious about wanting a 355B, give Steve or Darrell a call and talk it over. It's a red/tan, 6-speed 355B just sitting there in inventory.

FChat'er BrianC in North Carolina just sold his red/tan 355B to some guy in New York. You just missed a great one there. I was in his car - top notch.

I tried Search, but couldn't find the magic build numbers for valve guide upgrade to steel (27869??) and the bad connecting rod cars. Both took place in '97, I believe. Can anyone help?
