Thanks for the hint about download. So how do I do that? Find a place on the PC to download it, then burn a CD and feed that into the PS3? The thing that excites me the most about Dirt is, that it looks as if they have Pikes Peak (with the Audi Turbo) back in the game. That alone would be worth the admission price.
I know that GT4hd is out for download off the PS3, I've played it before, and it's just GT4 with updated graphics. GT5 is what should be the huge breakthrough.
Thanks, also, it seems there are different versions of the PS3, do you really need a 60gig over a 20gig? What games require you to save things to hard disk? Are there any performance or other differences?
No, download through your PS3. Hook up your broadband cable to the system. Forza2 demo will be out soon for download on Xbox Marketplace, maybe next week
http://www.gametrailers.com/umwatcher.php?id=62448 Note, this is cosmetic damage only (you can turn it on simulation damage if you want) With sim damage, that first wall hit (2:10 on the race timer) would knock out your steering a bit, and the second hit to the rear right after would render you (and the Aston) almost undriveable. game is going to be great!
I'm not familiar with PS3's online setup, but I hear its somewhat similar to Xboxlive Plug in your Ethernet cable to the PS and turn it on (with no game in) You should get a prompt about online. If not try and look through the menu's for it. You will have to create a username (free I believe for PS) Then use your controller to browse around on the downloads sections. Perhaps someone that has downloaded something with the PS can chime in?
I'll give it a shot. I did that once after I bought the PS3 to get it upgraded to the latest OS version. But there it was looking for that. I wonder how this works if it doesn't know what to look for. I guess I just have to try.
It's easy. Plug the cable in, set the network settings up, and go to the playstation store icon for the free download demo. I've been playing F1 Online, and I'm totally in love with it. I'm not sure if the force feed back is working on the PS3. Andreas, is yours working? There is a new system update that enables the rumble feature, which makes me think that the Force feed back is all good now.
It works great in GT4, all the feedback you could ever ask for. However it is not great at all in the PS3 F1 game: Very little feedback and barely any resistance on the steering wheel. Feels lousy. The PS3/game does a handshake with the wheel, so it is recognized, but the feedback is just not well implemented (reminded me of the little feedback one gets on a XBox wheel). Makes me wonder whether there is a patch to download? PS: Tried to sign up with the online store, but couldn't find the & for my email. I'm doing this on my projection screen setup and characters are really hard to read.
Andreas, if you dowload the new patch and it should make the F1 game better. I don't have a wheel yet, so I'm SOL.
I signed on to the PS3 store, but didn't find that patch. Actually no updates to the F1 game whatsoever. PS: I did find and download GT 4 HD Concept and it just blew me away.
But what the game crowd really wants to know: Can the F1 game handle drifting? (Say, at the Loews hairpin in Monaco. )
I just went on a PS3 chatsite and figured out the mistery of the FFB lack in the game: Sony screwed the pooch contractually. Allegedly it is on the CD, but not activated. Rumor is, that in mid summer either a patch or a new version with FFB will become available as the game goes platinum in Europe. Oddly enough last year's game allegedly has FFB. Go figure.
While I think BluRay does offer a very clear picture and audio package, I have to agree with your assessment. The improvement over regular DVD isn't enough to drive this market. I watched a movie on reg DVD and BluRay, and the difference didn't just jump out at me...and yes I do have a television with 1080p.
It's not that I'm anti blue ray. I just couldn't care less. I have a DVD player and HDTV and am happy with that setup. I use the PS3 elsewhere purely for gaming and think by adding the blue ray drive they increased the price unnecessarily (or take an unnecessary hit on production costs). They should focus on what is IMHO really important and that's bringing back FFB to the F1 game. After all that is a strategic advantage they have over the XBox360.
Not so much in the image quality but also the space. More interactive menus can be added for viewing pleasure like video commentary while watching the movie, etc. I also believe Sony thought about game development. As we give developers more hardware and as we crave better graphics and better sound, the space becomes an issue on standard dvd. With BR developers practically have free reign and are not limited by size.
You're probably right, but they haven't stocked the current BluRay discs with much content, so that impression is lost on consumers (at this point anyway). I would imagine that eventually it will result in a more enriched movie experience, but it just hasn't materialized yet. That said, if they make it too good I'll have no incentive to go to the theater (not that I have much of one now).
