My rusty Italian translation yields the following. Apparently my friend had sent a request by telex to the Ferrari factory in 1978, looking for a list of serial #s of all the US version 365 GTB4 Spyders that were made. This was their reply.

What do you think this letter is worth to someone? Anything significant?

This may have value to a Daytona owner. You might want to post it in the Classic section, though you may get a stern warning from a moderator for double posting. But I would try it. The classic guys may not pass through the Collectables section.

This letter appears to be the second part of an official response from Ferrari's "Commercial Department" to a telex that was sent on November 14th, 1978 by someone asking for all registration numbers of the Ferrari 365 produced for the US market. Ferrari implies in this letter that they already provided a listing of the registration numbers of the 365 GTB4's in a separate response.

    It says:

"In reference to your telex Nr. 001035 dated 11/14/1978

We continue for you the complete listing of the Ferrari 365 GTB4, US version, manufactured in the Spyder version:

    (Registration numbers)

    Please accept our best regards."

What I find most remarkable about this letter is the fast response time of Ferrari to the inquiry. They may even have provided the prior response on the same day they received the request. Someone took the effort to sit down and type up all these registration numbers. Ferrari of North America could learn from this!

Any official Ferrari correspondence dated from a time when Enzo Ferrari was still alive should be considered valuable.

Grazie MondialMondo for your improved translation. I was also impressed with the apparent one day turnaround time. I guess this letter may go up on Ebay, because unfortunately I don't have a Daytona Spyder :(

I wish you good luck with selling your letter. If I had a Daytona Spyder I definitely would have wanted it.

Maybe go to Vintage Section and label the thread with "Daytona Spyder" in the heading?

I'm sure a Fchatter with one of the listed cars would like to have it....

May not get the proper market attention on FleaBay.........

That sounds like a good idea, but I don't want to get in trouble for cross posting or spaming. In the meantime there is one bid now :)

    Thanks,
