    Hi Nick,
having been in the restoration game and motor trade for the past 30 years, I can see a bit more than a week in the pictures you have sent.
    Sorry Mate!
Don't get yer hopes up, unless the pictures are not fully up to date.

If its any consolation, my drivers door is in my workshop and the car is at home, so unless I finish and re hang it in two days, my saturday blast, is out of the question.

I admire you people. I wish I could do that kind of work myself. Great job so far!

Thank you! "Thats very nice of you to say"

Its only a dream but maybe in the future I will start a small restoration shop of my own.
Although more money can be made from service work, but you don't get the satisfaction when the job is complete.

    Hi Mark
As long as its ready for the Piza night I am OK, he says there is a good chance it will be ready.
Its a bit scarey seeing it like this; took my breath away when the pics turned up today, not quite what I was expecting!
All I have to do next is the inside, but my wife might have other ideas :-(
I suggested today about the HiSpec monster brake kit, and that did NOT go down well

    Hey Nick,
Brakes sound good, I suppose your brakes are far more visible with your wheels being open. Do you find you have brake problems then, I find mine are fine?

As far as the inside goes I have all seats and centre consul for a gt4 in the loft, less door cards.
With my car, the past owner purchased an interior then sent it away for leather work. keeping the car on the road.
Good idea, exept he never got around to having it fitted. Lucky he gave it to me when I bought the car.
Its now fitted, leaving the old set in the loft, if your interested?
I just need some thick fitted carpet to finish the job.

Don't be upset seeing you car like that, I have had to calm a Porsche owner down in the past, when he saw we had cut the front off of his car, from the bulkhead forward. Now that looks scary!!

I need carpets urgently! The brakes are not good in the wet, I found that sometimes there is nothing there, until the 2nd push, I guess the 1st one dries the disks and the 2nd stops the car?
I want groved/sloted disks I had them on my last car, made one hell of a difference.
What sort of interior is it? mine is all black leather with a white headlining - now that does need some work, especialy around the sunroof.

    Nick,
Your brakes should not get wet in normal wet driving conditions, you need to check your master cylinder vacume hose when you get the car back.
Pull the ends off and check to see if the inside tube is starting to close up and stop the vacume on the first pump, thats a classic problem with old cars and it looks like whats happening with your brakes.

The seats I have are black with red trim but thats not important if they are going away for re trim.

    Regards
    Mark

I think I suffer from two issues.
    1. It was very very wet - lots of surfice water, coming back from Cardiff down the M4. It was so bad I kept below 50 mph all the way back and came off at Reading to use the A4
    2. My wheels are very open and the disks are more exposed.

In the dry, the brakes are better than my 2006 Focus

I didn't realise you were in the motor industry?

Well I was in the motor industry! not just body but engines as well.
I used to repair and restore cars, also did a bit of classic race prep, you could say I have done the lot.
Three months ago, I was also an insurance engineer working with Porsche.
I have just started a project in a totaly different field.
I will tell you all about it when I see you, thats why I said my workshop is very close to the Slough meeting place.
I also asked where your car had gone because I know most of the bodyshops in this area, they probably know me too.
