If his times are reflective of his performance, he shouldn't pack his bags for F1 quite just yet.

Scott Speed put in a solid performance in Spain, far better than Liuzzi, I think. I don't see any reason to believe that Bourdais will in any way improve STR from their current levels.

When are we going to get Kimi there to test?! He desperately needs to improve his one lap pace for quali. Hopefully we will see him there tomorrow.

Have him replace Liuzzi then? Keep in mind he's in an STR, so his times certainly aren't going to be high on the chart, especially since the main drivers on better teams were running so many laps. Gerhard wouldn't have him test again, and have a third session already scheduled if he didn't see something you and I can't.

Very good point. Sebastian is also driving the 908 at Le Mans next month - they certainly wouldn't have him in the driver line-up if he wasn't good since this will be the first meeting between the R10 and 908. There have been many comments and it's been in print that Scott Speed must perform this year.

Also looks like the Red Bull from the last two races is beginning to perform.

well, i really hope DC does well, and so does the Red Bull.

what i can't really stand is, how STR blames all it's failures on it's drivers. the whole car sucks big time by itself and the blame always goes to Scott Speed. Like Senna3xWC mentioned...it's not the drivers thats lacking. it's the whole team, IMO.

i also think it's really silly of Gerhard Berger to go to the public about his drivers.

His team, his rules. Also, how are you so sure it's completely the car that's lacking? I ask you, have you been present in testing and development for the STR car and drivers? It's very possible both drivers are underpeforming in certain areas, not just the car, this is probably why it took so long for them to be resigned.

How much does it cost to run 142 laps? Lots of money to spend on a backmarker.

well, one of the team's officials have stated at last weekend's gp, that they were overconfident, and overdid the car.

Brian, I think the drivers are so young and inexperienced, perhaps they haven't been able to get the best out of the car as far as development is concerned. I think both guys are very young and quick, just a lack of experience. It would have been better to have a Veteran in one car and a young charger in the other.

i agree with you Tony. but i just feel bad for both Tonio and Speed. like you said, it's the age and experience that's lacking them.

They also lack a senior driver on that team, anybody with more than 4 years of F1 experience could certainly help that team.

Yeah that's the formula right there. That's why Flavio kept Fisi on, although he wasn't the quickest guy on the track by any stretch of the imagination.
