Where can I find the Ferrari specific obd-2 code definitions???
I just bought a 1997 355 spyder with 31k miles. The valve guides, belts, seals and cats (hyperflow) etc. were all replaced. I too just got a check engine light. I have bought a 3100 code reader and pulled the codes. Though I forgot to bring them to work to post.
On another note I was wondering since it is my understanding that the headers are insulated with fiberglass then metal shielded. When the headers do go bad is it possible that fiberglass can find its way to the cats and clog them??
Does it make sense to pull the shields off and ceramic coat the headers?
Does anyone make aftermarket headers for these cars?
Other than the CEL I love the car! I had a 1997 Porsche 993 Twin Turbo that was way faster, handled better and stopped better with no CEL problems the 40K miles I owned it.
But this is my first Ferrari and the fun/chick factor is far better than in my Porsche. Not to mention the awesome F1 sound.
I am glad that there is some Ferrari knowledge available. So I will be posting some codes for some feedback soon.

    CEL causing codes are:

    P1115
    P1448

    CEL Pending Codes:

P0410 Secondary Air injection System Malfunction
    P1451
    P1445

I pulled these with 3100c. I have yet to decifer the Ferrari specific codes. Does anyone have any input or experience with this?

I would check your catalyst ECU's , this will cause "check eng lite" They are know to crack & moisture gets in and drives the computer sys crazy.

Does any one know the definition of the P1115 code???

I am in the process of working on the exhaust bypass valve issue (code P1448) .

I am now DTC free in my 1997 F355 spider!

I replaced vacuum lines, installed kingsborne wires, sealed a split in the potting of one vescovini ECU, lubricated the soleniods for the bypass valve/cold start valve, replaced the thermal switch on the LH radiator, pulled apart o2 & temp sensor connectors everywhere & put contact/anti corrosion lube on them and thats what it took!! Now over 150 miles later, even with some very spirited driving and not one code!!

In the past I would get P1448-bypass, P1445-vescovini, P1115-o2 sensor & couple others after only 10 miles or so. Not all at once but sometimes even within a few minutes!

So thanks to all who have posted help/info on code issues!! I read all of them and they were instrumental in my troubleshooting endeavors!! :) :p :) :p !!!

gothspeed, which of the above was the magic trick? From reading it looks like the O2/temp sensor contacts cleaned/lubed did the trick, or was it all of the above!? Thanks!

I actually replaced the 'front' o2 sensors down the line for fuel economy sake. I will also be getting my fuel injectors flow matched to keep the cylinders running equal. Which codes are you getting?

I have gone through the same with my '98, 355B, since replacing cats with Hyperflows. I was getting codes, P1448, P1239 and P0102. Replaced soleniods, ECUs, o2sensors. Latest was ECU. Results still pending. Been trying to correct problem since June '06. Hyperflow says they have never had any such problems with their cat replacements? Have they changed the construction somehow and we are getting the first batch???

P0102 = Mass Air flow circuit, check wiring or connector ??

P1239 = Injector cucuit, check wiring or functionality...

P1448 = Cat/bypass valve, check vacuum leakage, soleniod, or thermocouple ECU...

I have hyperflows and they seem to work perfectly. P1448 also comes up when one wires the bypass open. Hope this helps!

We have replaced all of the parts for the problems the codes represent. Have probably spent $2000 inaddition to the HYPERFLOW cats. Light back on with codes 1448 and 1239. May have to go back to FERRARI cats to correct problem. We are trying to get some advice and/or relief from HYPERFLOW, still pending.. I would NOT recommend HYPERFLOW to 355 owners , with the experience I've had. The Check Engine light had never come on, even when my stock cats failed and spit out their gold dust! Everything started when the HYOERFLOWs were installed in June '06!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about the possible problem with the hyper-flow cats. Does your bypass valve actuator work? My actuator diaphram ruptured so I had to replace it. Try using 'connector lube' on ALL the connectors and fuses you can reach! It really helped me :)

Have you tried resetting the ECU's by the battery disconnect switch?? Then start the car the next day from 'stonecold' and let idle for ten minutes. It will allow the ECU to relearn it operating parameters based on the new harware you installed.

Not a bad idea....take apart every connector in the engine compartment and clean with electrical contact cleaner, then treat with Stabilant 22. Pay particular attention to the cat ecu connectors, O2 sensor connectors and the MAF connector, but do them ALL.

The other thing you may want to do is attach an extra ground strap to the O2 sensors. You can use a hose clamp and a piece of wire. Put the clamp and the wire around the sensor/s, then attach the other end of the wire to some place on the frame.

According to Brian Crall, that was more of an issue with the 348, and not a problem with the 355.

You are right it sucks huge ones to deal with the CEL :(. I am assuming you have the 3100c code reader?

Oh yeah, here is something worth checking may be nothing may be something:

    1. Check to see if your O2 sensors are tight.

    2. Did the shop change the gaskets between the headers and cats?? Make sure those couplings are not leaking.

Either or both of the above may get errant air to the O2 sensors. Which in turn may give your sensors a false reading and wreak havoc with your air/fuel mixture.

Note: fuel was one of your codes right?
