Jaygt4...great job and pics. IMHO yellow is the best color for the gt4 (or any fcar really) but I'm bias (my gt4 is yellow/boxer trim). Is on of the other two gt4 owners Rocco from Rock's Auto in Toronto? I just bought some parts from him. What a great guy to talk to, very helpful and approachable.

Rocco wouldn't let us post the one with him in the picture :) I am the person on the right.
And yes, Rocco is a great resource and mechanic and restorer. No bull****, just the straight goods.

Thanks for the comments guys. David, sorry I don't remember that spring giving me that much of a problem. I know I took it all apart but I honestly can't remember putting it back together. Gerrit is right, Rock wouldn't let me post the pic with his GT4! :) I'll post more pics soon...

It's been a while since I updated but the weather final got nice in southern Ontario! Took the car out for a spin and smelled coolant, found a pin hole in the coolant expansion tank. No sense having it rebuilt (again) so I ordered a new one from Trutlands, arrived in a few days and I swapped it out quite easily.

Then last week going for a drive I heard a real bad grinding noise from the engine bay, pulled over and found the water pump pulley wobbling all over. Brought it to Rock's and found the water pump shaft was corroded, so a rebuild was in order. I thought we used the stainless shaft when we did the motor but I guess not. Anyway it is all back together and working great! Now I think I will do the springs because it sits WAY to low even though it looks awesome!

    Here's the corroded expansion tank...

Jay, I love the new fender wheels for the rear! LOL. Been awhile since we have chatted. My baby is still looking perfect after 3 years. Still saving up for a Countach.

New shocks went in today. I bought 185lbs for the front and 200 lbs for the back which is slightly stiffer then stock. Also got the length down about 1/2" from stock. The old springs were so bad they were actually shorter then the new ones when removed! Did a quick drive around to get them settled and the car looks great, no more rubbing and the ride is beautiful! The springs came from Hypercoil and were $65 each. Unfortunately they are blue :( Didn't have time to paint them but I'll live with it for now. Here's the pics...before during and after.

Notice the height difference between old and new...new should be 1/2" lower then the old ones, not the other way around!

Looks good Jay, bet it handles way better too! Say, did they not have any sort of spark plug hole "cap" in 1975? That would concern me if water got down in there. My 78 308GTS had rubber caps, and they leaked, but I replaced them (heck they were 23 years old! ;) ) and problem solved. Everytime I washed the car, I would get a miss, that would require inspecting the plugs and replacing the one that got wet.

Do you have contact info for them? I need new springs for my 308QV. Thanks.

Coolant tank looks good. I revised my coolant tank and hoses last winter. Find anything interesting under the coolant tank? I found a mouse nest!http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136346910&postcount=294

Nice to see some dust on your engine, looks like you have been driving it and enjoying it!

I like seeing pictures of your car. I think that they were all gone around the time I got my car, thanks for reposting them. I am curious, your repost of the pictures at the start of this thread shows a re-finished expansion tank. Did it get all rusty since restoring the car?

Yes, I found the site through Google. Just wondered if Jay GT4 had someone specific that he talked to there. How do I determine what spring in their inventory is appropriate for my 308QV?

Yes, it developed a pin hole on top, so no use repairing it again...

Here is the chart I used to determine rates. The GT4 has an ID of 3", it should be the same for the 308's...chart came from Verrell I think.
