I am now looking at a garage queen 1962 Jaguar XKE ,roadster, flat floor , gold head. Car was redone 15 years ago and then parked under a car cover. I am in discussions with the owners wife. Engine doesn't turn but this will be the fun part. Pretty car. Looking for something for my wife.

 

For me it would definitely be a Lamborghini. Either a Diablo or a Gallardo would suit me just fine.

 

V12 Lambo, V10 Carrera GT etc.

 

I've always wanted a Singer Nine roadster. It was sort of the underdog against the MG T-Series. At a whopping 36bhp, it's not exactly a Ferrari, but nice and quirky and so much fun. Also often lusted after the Lotus 7.

 

I've settled into my 575M as I approach geezerhood. I have driven and owned many of the cars you fellows have mentioned. My first car was an inherited 1948 Plymouth, an immensely heavy bomb of a thing.

All of these cars mentioned are exciting in their own way. I would never pass up a ride in any of them. By all means, sample and savor as many as possible in your life. The memories are vastly satisfying.

A Dino 246 GTS would be nice if I had a place to put it. Doubt if the wife would give up the Boxster S tho. I'll ask her.

aston sounds good, but I'd go for another FCar. Life's too short to have just one. If you have a stick, get an F1. If you have a v8 get a v12. If you have a coupe get a convertible.

Also considering a late 70s rolls. Can't believe how inexpensive they are to aquire. Have not yet researched how much they cost to own, but I have my guesses...

Modern cars leave me cold.

Even the AMV8, which I parked next to yesterday in my 328, looked a bit too 'normal' next to the Ferrari. And that's probably my favorite of the lot when it comes to 2007 model year cars.

Finances permitting, I'd go for an F40, which was the last Ferrari that gets me weak in the knees. Short of that, the truth is the 328 is pretty much my favorite car, and I already own one in my favorite colors (black metallic/tan). In some ways the itch for another car is gone.

I am interested in vintage, probably a Porsche Speedster or maybe an Austin Healey 100/4 - something I could race in vintage events. That seems like moving to a zone of closer involvement with the mechanical bits of the car, whereas all the digital/drive-by-wire/paddle-shift stuff does not.

(Daily drivers are excluded from this conversation, I assume. I may get a DSG-equipped Audi this year, with all the techno-toys, just to play with and dump after a couple of years.)

I have heard from a number of sources that the Lotus is a real fun car to drive. I know at least one fcar owner who has many cars but enjoys the Lotus the most.

 

Pfft. Who needs a luxury sedan? Get the sports car!
