My understanding, at least for Reading is that something like luggage would be a tie breaker. Since they only award one Gold and one Silver, if your car is not a 95 point car, it mightbreak a tie with an otherwise identical car.

In all my years at reading, I don't think I've see two sets of luggage displayed. Was it an option? If so, then you can leave it home and it won't cost you a thing. If it was standard equip. then there's always the possibility of it helping you in a tie.

I would not expect that to be an issue for you. I'd leave 'em home.

Remember, this is for fun as much as the competition. Some guys take it really seriously some don't. The more cars in your class, the more likely you are to come upon someone who's totally anal about their car. (Um, like me.):D

Bayer - how many hours of your life have you spent in search of the holy grail of concours judging - THE CORRECT HOSE CLAMPS - it's a cry for help, Michael. Seek treatment immediately.

I hope the judges pull out the dreaded mirror to see if you have the correct shade of yellow paint on your oil pan drain plug safety wiring. . . .

looking forward to the drive up!

and I swear, Dave, this time I am going to hang by your car and finally meet you in person!

I know this sounds stupid, but I am one of the guys who justs shows my 308 because of the great parking spot on the grass when I take it. Frankley last year the caravan up and BS'in with everyone in the middle of all those incredible cars made the whole thing an absolute joy.
Tech question. How many of each awards do they give out?
I won a Gold last year, so does that mean it was the second best in it's class ?

With that said where can I pick-up some of that special yellow oil pan drain plug safety wire??? LOL

If anyone on here that I haven't met before please look for me and introduce yourself.I'll be in a 79 308 red GTB with my 13 year old son polishing until he gets tennis elbow while I stand and tell him he missed a spot.

    Looking forward to seeing everyone.--Bob

Dave and Jon. Josh is getting your DVD's ready for you at the meet.

Pebble Beach is more a show for museum pieces... Reading isn't. I wouldn't show up with your car looking like you just drove it through a mud bog but a little road grime is acceptable.

Ferraris are meant to be driven.

I was under the impression if 10 cars score 98 points --all get Platinum--Is that wrong?? Is there only 3 awards for each model category?? One gold, one silver and one platinum??

you are correct.... 10 cars.... 10 platinums.... one gold.... one silver per category.... the thing is that if it comes down to who will get a platinum versus a gold in a close contest the better prepared will win...

I'm sorry, I'm lost. What exactly does Gold and Silver mean and why only one each.

Pay no attention to BrianP, he is just trying to scare off the competitors, its an old Jedi mind trick. Just so you know, he is still arguing with the Reading judges from last year over a deduction for fuzzy dice hanging from his mirror. He claims they were a factory installed option.

Platinum - any car that scores 95 points or better.

Gold 90-94 pts - and the best car in that range. Only one gold per category
silver 85-89 pts - and the best car in that range. If more than one scores 89, look to the tie breakers indicated above. only one silver per category.

Basically the highest scoring car in each points range gets awarded a silver, or a gold, but only 1 car per range.

I think that makes it clear as mud, does it not?

It's a drive up show. There are allowances made for anything, including paint chips, that might have happened along the way.

However, having said that, the judges ain't stupid. Don't show up with a grimy engine compartment and blame it on the trip...

So if 7 of us score 94 only one of us is getting an award--the other 6 are SOL!!

One of you will end up with a gold and one will end up with a silver and the rest will be SOL. This is exactly what happened to me in the nationals.... 94 points!

WOW!!!!!!!! I finally saw some of dream cars in the flesh!!! The GTO, F50, Enzo!!!!!!!! WOW!

The ride up was rainy and I thought the day was a wash, but the sun came out and it was perfect!!!
This was my first concourse event and I had a great time showing the car and meeting lots of great people!!

Everything was really well done, although Robbie is still wondering when the 355 judges will show up!!!

Here are some pics! The F50 is 1 of 3 yellow F50's in the US and the car was custom made originally for Ralph Lauren.

As promised, I took over a 1000 photos. But I've only been able to get thru a couple so far. I guess that the tdf took best of show. And the judges never even took a look at the motor!

It will take some time but I will try to post some more photos over the next few days. Great turn out and the weather held up for us.

And there was this nice little 355 with yellow stitching, I got some nice shots of it. I hear that it did well in judging (once it finally got judged that is!)

    cheers

Great pics Ken!!! Not sure how I did with the judging. Myself, Robert, Michael and Bryan headed out after the 355's finally got judged---2 hours standing behind my car--waiting. Note to self--Bring lawn chair next year!!!
