Like that last pic, shows the diversity of the cars that show up every week. Anymore pics?

what are the details of captree? I want to head out there one day. Where is it? What time? Is it just a meet or an actual drive?

There is a 1/3 change over at about 9 Am. Alot of the higher priced cars come about then, i.e. Enzo.

Yes, what a great day. I have been looking for this day for a long time. (was very fed up with the weather) Saw lots of cool stuff. The place has such a great turn out that if its Sunday and clear I will be there.

I dont think there is an actual "Opening Day" for Captree. The diehards show up year-round and in another week or two they move to OBI(Oak Beach Inn) parking lot. But that is also up in the air , due to the installation of locking gates.(more information when discovered).

The reason they move to the OBI, is that Captree starts to charge a parking fee at 8am during "The Season" which I believe starts May 5th.(cinco de mayo to my foreign friends).

Either way, I hear I missed a great showing today.

    Keep the events coming.

I visited Captree on and off all winter, 25 -50 cars at the best. Several weeks ago maybe a turnout of 100 cars but yesterday after a couple weekends of bad weather, the temperature was above 70, the sun was out and 700 car turnout, thats why I am calling it opening day. (A personal feeling.) Not for the opening of Captree or the future switching over to OBI but the turnout. Where else can you see this vast array of cars for free?

No where. The only problem with the OBI is the size. Its about 1/3 the size of the Captree lot. So if your not there by 745am on a sunday(if the gates are open) you wont find a spot.

Good luck and have a great time!

Exactly. I was out there a few times this past winter. On one of the coldest dry days there were about 20 or so cars. But that one freaky warm day in January I believe it was.. the lot was FULL! An Enzo even showed up. Too many cars to list on that day. I met up with the M5 guys at West End beach and we all rolled in together. It was cool as hell. I didn't even think to go this past sunday until it was too late :(. Maybe next time.

I heard they use Tobey Beach when Captree starts to charge a fee but that was before I started going so I don't know how true that is.

20 cars? Those who see 20 or 30 cars at Captree on a Sunday morning are coming too late. Even on the Sunday following the slushy/ Icy Friday night storm there were over 100 cars there. (Granted they weren't F599 or GT3s but Captree is all about an eclectic mix of cars and the people who own them. If you want to see cars you have to get there between 8:30 and 10:00.

Anybody see the aerobatics being demonstrated over Robert Moses State Park on Sunday morning? I was watching in awe from the OBI lot as a "barnstormer" disproved all the laws of flight. I have seen wingovers and stalls and loops etc, etc, but I have never seen anyone tumble a plane nose over tail and recover as effortlessly as this guy did. I was amazed. Did anyone see it?

Hey Sandy, you have to let that doppler stuff go. I use the analog method: stick head outside, see sun in sky, back car out of the garage :)
