I mean you see a great car and its not the right color do you rationalize or move on??? all opinions and stories welcome

    Enough said.

When you get another one, then we'll let you experiment with other colors. :)

Black is it! Everything else is just primer. ;)

For Mondial coupes in particular, black is a great color because it blends the black plastic trim bits into the shape nicely. I think black looks better on 308s and 328s as well, but on the Mondial coupe more than any Ferrari I can think of it transforms the car. (Actually black metallic is my favorite, but they're extremely scarce...)

Color has enormous influence. Boston Sportscar, for example, has had a marrone Testarossa in stock for many months. Great car, great shop, and the color isn't ugly - but it's odd for a TR.

So there's my strong opinion. BUT - these are old cars, and if a pristine, babied red Mondial came up and the only black one was a dog with no history, aftermarket everything, and lots of battle scars, then you need to go for the better car, or else wait (not easy).

On that particular model I like black for another reason. There is something that bothers me about the front bumper and black hides it. It is in two places on the bottom of the bumper such that it is in the egg crate grill, inboard of the driving lights.

I don't know what they are but there they are. In red they are a distraction but in black they nearly dissapear. I like red otherwise.

I hope that I haven't messed you up for all eternity with this. Don't let it bother you. It's just me.

Go with Red/Tan you'll love it. When you want to upgrade, your Red/Tan will resale better.

You'll save a couple grand over a red one buying, and give up a couple grand selling.

Buy what turns you on. Conformity is overrated.

Black looks beautiful when it's clean.

Problem is black shows EVERY speck of dirt and is very hard to keep looking good. 2 blocks or overnight...time to clean again.

-2 The black is the best on the T cab. The black looks great on a 328 gts as well. If I wanted a red tan and could do it again I would have gotten an 89gtb.. But hard to find I have PM ed several owners and they aint selling...

You're driving your car too far! Two blocks and it should be ready for a major service anyway. ;)

Black metallic = problem solved. :)

Really, whatever gives you pleasure. To paraphrase Billy Joel, no matter whom you sleep with, you always wake up with yourself.

There is a story that God made all the good prancing horsies red, and all the other ones were just mistakes :)

Once you get all the swirl marks out (takes a good detailer) and put a good coat of wax on it, it is fairly easy to keep a mirror-like finish on a black Ferrari. There is a technique though on how to wash it without adding back the swirl marks.

And this pic is after driving the morning on back country roads.

choose one that intrinsically makes you happy. Simplistically, Ferrari exudes passion. You are not buying for someone else or for resale, unless you are a dealer; so pick what makes you happy and enjoy the hell out of it. Enjoy!

Seems to me that there are a few 'bossy' people on this, There is only 1 first colour and that is red, I personally wouldn't drive a red car unless it is a pre 1967, but thats just me. I would go for silver, and a black interior. If it's not available then paint brush ! Good luck. . . .
