of course i wasn't literal with that...sheesh, thus the what's with the sensitive SS backers...chill out... seriously though, i doubt the team cares about his significance to the U.S fans.. i better quit now, since i, and a lot of us, apparently know very little about F1...
I might be completely wrong on this, but I thought, that the TR is actually last year's RB with the 2007 upgrades. Whereas the 07 RB is a completely new car with the Renault engine. Or is it as you suggest, that the TR and the RB are the same cars with different engines. Anybody know? Powerwise I think it makes little difference whether you have the Renault or the Ferrari engine. How you integrate that into the overall package is another question.
I'm pretty sure you're correct on this. STR was one of the teams that were under scrutiny from Spyker and Williams pre-season. Since STR has been crap, and Williams has been doing well, Frank doesn't give a **** anymore. Spyker was still complaining about Super Best Friends though, since they got p10 at Melbourne.
Didn't Berger run BMW Motorsports ? I'm sure he has some 'pull' somewhere in this picture. It's not the US fans, it's the uninformed american press - they need an american angle or they can't justify going there to cover it.
If they are worried about how their drivers are doing so far this season, then they may as well can all 4 drivers. We all know the 2 old guys on the main team are not doing so well either. Australia Webber - 13th Coulthard - Retitred - Accident Liuzi - 14th Scott - Retired - Wheel Malaysia Webber - 10th Coulthard - Retired - Brakes Liuzi - 17th Scott - 14th Bahrain Webber - Retired - Gearbox Coulthard - Retired - Driveshaft Liuzi - Retired - Hydraulics Scott - Retired - Accident Spain Webber - Retired - Transmission Coulthard - 5th Liuzi - Retired - Hydraulics Scott - Retired - Tire Done Blowed Up It only been 4 races so far this year. They are working with all new cars (supposedly). They need to worry about the Dumb @sses who are designing working on the cars as well then. Just Fire Everyone! I don't like this crap about a new driver, whether he be American, European or of some other Country being given a bag of **** to drive and being blamed for it. Look at Anthony Davidson and Alex Wurz. They were awesome test drivers in the previous years, and then they get put into another car, and they can't seem to get the job done when it came down to it. I am a minor fan of Scott Speed since I currently live in the town where he grew up. I have had the opportunity of meeting him at each of the last 2 years I have attended the race in Indy, and even though you all think he is an idiot, he is a descent young man who has been through a lot of problems (health wise) to be where he is right now. But through and through, I WILL ALWAYS BACK MY FERRARI TEAM. Even if the other teams are using Ferrari Engines. Read another interview with Berger and the main criticism of Speed is that he cracks under pressure: He has improved his game and is doing fine in practice, but makes mistakes in qualifying and on race day. Point in case was Barcelona: He actually had a slow puncture and the sensors were indicating a pressure loss in the tire, yet Speed continued to race on. He had a two lap warning, but ignored it until the tire suddenly disintegrated. Had he come in to the pits, he could have saved that race.
According to Berger it is precisely the dedication part that Scott lacks. Makes you wonder who now knows clearly so little about F1. Berger perhaps?
Didn't Berger just buy his seat in F1, thus didn't have to dedicate himself to rising up through the ranks of karting and Formula such and such.
Berger's family is rich through their trucking company and IIRC what you're saying is mostly true. Berger also blatantly admits that he lacked dedication and commitment. That's exactly why he expects that from his drivers because he knows first hand that without it you only go so far. By now I have read several Berger interviews and he always surprises me with his openness and directness. He tells it as it is and makes no bones about how disappointed he is in Speed. Publicly.
Thats the only thing I don't like about him, if you got a problem with someone be a man and tell that person, don't tell the media. Telling the media makes you look worse, same thing happened with Michael Strahan in the NFL, talked badly about a teammate and suffered.
Yes and no: For one I find it refreshing to hear somebody in F1 who is a straight shooter. Second think about the immense pressure he builds on Speed this way. Way bigger than just telling him directly. I hope the US media know all about these rumors and give Speed a nice grilling: "Hey Scott, how does it feel to drive your last GP?"
It's probably his own way of motivating Speed into performing at his best, and it seems to have been working.
+2 I hope he is doing this to get Scott to buck up and perform. He didn't get this far to just throw it all away. Besides, his father will be very disappointed if he does lose his seat. After all, he was Scotts inspiration.
Berger criticizing Speed without criticizing other portions of the Red Bull stable is hilarious. Frankly, if Vettel wants to scuttle his career I think STR is a good choice.
