    AWD V6 rob...

the GTi is front wheel dve turbo 4 cyl.

R32 is significantly more $$.....thats why you see many more GTis out there, GTi is a gun car at present

Basically a very expesive and relatively brisk shopping cart with some pretty sweet looking Recaros as a $4k option

    GTi is the better buy.

VW prices rocket north when you start ticking options boxes....and its VERY easy for an R32 to be a high-$70k car!

my neighbour in Thredbo bought one earlier this year, had a Miltek exhaust fitted, chipped and whatever, the thing boogies real well, i would say its comparable to my M3 except the M3 has more Kw and more torque, as a pocket rocket its the G.O. The Gti is a cheaper car sure but the R32 being AWD is more balanced and u gotta love that V6.

If and its a big if I wasnt getting a DB9 i would look at the R32 as the daily driver, and seeing its a 100k cheaper than an E46 M3 its a good deal.

the milltek stuff is sh*t hot.

guy in the rex club got a GTi soon after they were released, did the milltek chip/exhaust and a bit of intake work...thing sounds like a rally car and goes bloody hard

Don't forget the just released Golf GT.Has a turbo AND a supercharger fitted.Goes well and frugal on juice, win_win situation.

Its the future of engines, small disp. fitted with both types of compressors.

Cool concept but its more a fuel economy/sportyness compromise rather than an outright 'performance car' which the R32/GTi are designed to be

cheaper, lighter, and just a chip/exhaust away from big torque and tough noise.

with the big 6 id imagine R32 would have longer legs on more open roads though..?

Good and bad. We're losing the argument with the seller over the new fuel bladders that have gone missing. 3K euro down the drain, plus we now have to source 2 more. At least we're getting the original rear wheels back, they're 4K euro each.

Engine inspection so far reveals EVO 1 blower already fitted, with the all-important mountings and belt tensioners & pulleys, so our new one becomes a spare. It was going to be quite a task to get the big blower installed from scratch, the little Stradale blower is nothing like the comp cars. Now we just have to decide whether or not to fit the slide injection. To do that we have to find a Kugelfischer 4 cyl fuel injection pump (anyone wrecking a 2002Tii?) so the carby is looking good for the moment.

Its being measured today for a new exhaust collector then the tear down will start in earnest. Just hope we'll have it ready for Speed on Tweed in September. I'll take some new pics soon.
