I was thinking after I sold the 360 that I'd stay out of super cars for a while but I'm not thinking that is going to happen.

So the issue is what to get? I'm not getting another F-car. Need to try something different.

    Here are the choices:

Lamborghini Gallardo - Love the lines, dependable, low maint costs, has depreciated with early production year.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage - For some reason I'm just drawn to it. Sexy, different, rare in some aspects.

    What do you all think?

I always see a Job Dango wrapped Ford, perhaps a Explorer in da Couve at a place called Big Al's.

    Ralph you in Vantucky?

    I voted Gallardo.

Beautiful car, and from what I hear, more of a driving experience.

    Wilson,

I choose not to vote.. Go for the Fcar, any F-car. Mike has a picture that would debunk your theory on the G-cars being dependable.. Probably a piece of shrapnel as well.. I won't say any names though.. If you are only going with those two though I go Bond... Wilson Bond... And put FOREX on your custom plates..

No kidding! Take a look at the rear window of the car and you'll notice it still had the temp permit on it... Oh the Joy!!

Thank the Lord for the warranty!!! or this would of been a 50k fix...

    Hammer

P.S. Wilson, keep in mind where you're going to have the warranty work on the car done at. If you go for either one of those in your poll you'll be shipping them to Seattle! Kevin can handle hauling for you.

Ralph, I'm sure there a few F-car owners who have similar photos. I've seen a couple myself. I've had my Gallardo for several months now, and had it on the track without any major issues. Very well-mannered on the road and very fast on the track. Not a bad combination.

As you know, there are lemons associated with each brand. I'm not attacking or defending, just stating my opinion as a current/former owner of many high performance exotic cars.

Marty loves his Aston. I've driven it, and it is a fun car to drive. Sounds great, but a totally different driving experience than the Gallardo or 360/430. It is also very easy on the eyes.

Wilson, you can't go wrong with either choice. If you want to get closer to a Gallardo, give me a call and we'll go for a ride. I may even let you drive it!

    Cheers!

I would say Gallardo stands out more...

If you look at a gallardo on a picture it does not look as nice but when you see it then it looks so nice.

In my opinion i think you should get a Red Lamborghini Gallardo with black wheels.

It has nothing to do with being a lemon... Everything to do with Lamborghini knowing about certian issues with their cars... Plus, once the new motor & cats were installed it was a great boulevard cruiser!

Also, no matter what anybody buys you still need to have warranty work done at the authorized dealer... Not a big thing if you enjoy spending two to three days in Seattle or can live with out the ride for a while... Plus, Josh is a great mechanic!

Haven't driven a Vantage--but I think I would prefer the Gallardo. Just avoid the 2004--it doesn't have many improvements of the later years.

Vantage Roadster looks hot, and the coupe is nice too. However, I like the DB7 Vantage even better... so I bought one.

Having recently owned (albeit briefly)an 01 360 modena 6-spd and now owning an 05 Gallardo I can tell you that while somewhat comparable they are TOTALLY different cars. I drive my car every day and the Gallardo is the hands down winner. Everything just works. Plus the added creature comforts (bun warmers for example) are nice touches as is the AWD living here in the NW. While I won't drive the car in the snow etc. it is nice to have confidence in the car when the enevitable downpour occurs. My car has the Tubi exhaust and it sounds absolutely fantastic. (Not criticising the F car in that comment.) The good/bad thing I am having trouble getting used to is the attention the car draws. I doesn't seem like I can go through ANY intersection without having cell phones taking pictures, people stopping to stare etc. In fact on a recent trip back from Seattle (for service see below) an unfortunate Mustang owner was staring and taking some form of cell phone media of the car, that he rear ended the car in front of him.

Also the only other drawback is the lack of a factory authorized service center in PDX. Lambo doesn't stock any parts stateside (it appears from others I have spoken too as well as Lambo of Bellevue) so in 99% of cases of service (once you have driven or shuttled the car to Bellevue) you will be without it for an extended period of time. This simply stems from the wait on the parts not lack of willingness in Bellevue. James and Josh do an exemplary job of helping you out. Very professional. It is for this reason alone that my next purchase will more than likely be a newer 430 or 612 so that I can rely on RTGT to get me going again when needed. But, I would prefer to go to another G or even a Murci if the rumors pan out for a Lambo dealer in PDX.

If I can answer any specific questions fell free to ask!

    Thanks for letting me ramble!

Get the Gallardo or another Ferrari so I can sell you some parts for it!

What the van doesn't take the corners like you are used to?

    Wilson,

I love both your choices and true the Aston is a sexy car but if you want a true sport car that handles and is quick that is not the car. With both cars you will need to go to Seattle but the Lambo is just so much more exotic. You will blend in with everyone else in the Aston. If you can I would buy a 2005 G car with warranty. 06's gave not depreciated enough IMO to buy howveer they have much better gearing and e-gear systems.

Go with a Gallardo dude! You will not be disappointed

Call me to discuss I have some insider info that you maybe interested in my brother :)

I personally know of a guy who took delivery of a new 360 and later found out it had been damaged in the front somewhere along the line from the factory to the dealer. The car was replaced, but it didn't sour him on Ferrari as your experience has certainly done to you with Lamborghini. It's probably a good thing you're not into older F cars!

You're right about the boulevard cruiser! Very cool on the street! But I also think it's very hot on the track. I find it to be just as much fun on the track as the Ferrari. The AWD took a bit of getting used to for me (different entry), but I'm now comfortable with it and like it a lot. You just have to drive it differently. The F1 paddles are a might too sensitive and the brake pads needs to be changed, but other than that I'm perfectly happy with the car.
Ferrari or Lamborghini? Both great cars, IMHO.

Cheers! See you at the track.

    Tony,

From an owner's point of view, would you consider recommending the Ford GT?
Do you think it fits in well with Wilson's other choices?

I know CatsExotics had one last summer and it sold quite quickly...

Bun Warmers and AWD? Just like Mr. Lambo intended right? My wife's GERMAN car has those... Oh wait.....

Just good banter... Also if you live in PDX make sure you get on some more caravans with us..
