New Hampshire requires a license plate on the front of the car - yet I don't see any way to attach it to my 308.

Is there a kit or something? How do other folks attach their plates?

NEVER MIND- used the search feature and found the answer....

If you do a search, it's been talked about a bit. The best solution I've heard yet is to keep it in the car attached a broken bracket so if you get pulled over you can tell the cop it just fell off. :D

Look at any Euro car. We all have front plates, so the brackets should be very simple to locate/fabricate

I just use a couple of tie-wraps , that way no hole drilling and easy to remove for shows.

My solution is simple...dont put one on. I am in Texas and we are also required to have a front plate. I have'nt seen many F cars with plates on the front. My Corvette also has no front plate. In my experience most cops dont bother with it unless you give them attitude.

As a matter of fact I was able to visit with one of Texas' finest just last weekend in my 328. He was very nice as he wrote out my ticket for 80 in a 65, after that he walked around the car and said "you have no front license plate" I said "yes sir, it is ugly and I have not found a bracket to mount it". The officer smiled and said "slow it down and have a good evening"...as he was walking away he said "NICE CAR". I told him thanks and went on my merry way!

This is brilliant! I think I finally have a weekend project commensurate with my mechanical skills.

Classic. I don't have one either, and I'm in California.

I've seen guys bend the plate and mount it over the black chin spoiler on the 328, but it looks like crap and it's too low per the motor vehicle code anyway (has to be a certain number of inches from the road).

I use the front plate, so that I don't give a cop an excuse to pull me over.

my car had the plate bracket installed at the dealer. I've left it & the plate on as passing through Manhattan, they love to nail you for missing plates. Somewhere in the threads you'll find pictures. The bracket is held into the bottom of the bumper by two long metal screws.

Rutlands has used front plate mounts for 308's. I saw them last month and bought one. I have an old tag from Modena (a real old one) I want to put on my car so I bought it for that.

Well - I went down to get the car inspected...

I tie-wrapped the plate on the grill... and they said "Nope... gotta be PERMANENTLY attached to the car - no tie-wraps..."

I said, "Well, technically nothing is PERMANENTLY attached..."

They failed the inspection... (but it was really because I need a new tie-rod)

They were nice enough to suggest battling the State for a waiver... yeah... like that would ever happen...

You got that right. Just ask any British car owner.

Is that even a possibility in NH?!? I asked the RMV down here in MA about it while I was talking to them about something else and the lady might as well have put her hands on her ears and chanted "I'm not listening.. nanananana."

Also, I believe they have different front bumpers that actually have license plate brackets?

I have a 328 and live in N.H. I held my plate up to the front of the car trying to figure out how to attach it, there is just no way without blocking air to the radiator. There is no way in hell I`m going to do that. I guess if I get a ticket I`ll have to go to court and explain to the judge what happens to a $20k+ motor when it over heats. I wonder if Ferrari ever made (U.S.) licence plate brackets for these cars?

Eric this is no big deal. I did mine almost like Tom did in the above picture. I just got a piece of alum. angle from home depo and drilled a few holes and screwed it up below the grill opening. No block of air and it does not bottom out. My state buddies tell me that if they don't see a front plate then it is easy to pull the car over and do a search. So bite the bullet and just do it. It's only 2 holes and like rust it can always be repaired. Enjoy the ride

Suprised they are so tough in N.H.. Tougher than CA it seems. I've never had a front plate on any car except my truck and never been pulled over for it or had it mentioned when pulled over for speeding. Too bad, plates spoil the looks of most cars on the front. Good luck with your problem.

Has anyone drilled lots of 1/8" holes in their license plate to allow air to go through?

That ought to make your state inspector happy

I'm working on (what I hope will be) an elegant solution for this problem (using parts you can find at your local Autozone store).

I'll post pictures and a write-up when I get it done.

    Hey Eric,

That's BS about it being permanenty attached. I have mine tied with those too and the 308 has been registered in NH for 10 years.

That's the least problem for them to be looking for.

    Here is a picture.
