    Got a call from my good friend today, his 430 challenge has just arrived, the wait for this car has been agonizing, the funny thing is even though the car isnt mine its an awesome feeling, never did I ever expect to see a 430 challenge in South Africa, actually 5 have arrived in one go!

    It has become a some tradition for me to go with him when these new cars arrive so tomorrow will be the day I get to sit in a 430 challenge, tomorrow cant come soon enough! Getting through today was hard enough!

    But it doesnt end there...on Wed, weather permitting we are taking the car to the track....and yours truly will be on had to provide passenger impressions and maybe just maybe I will be allowed a few very slow laps....

    Please forgive my ignorance but is the F430 Challenge a follow up for the 360 Challenge Stradale?

    No... First there was the road going 360 Modena, then Ferrari introduced the 360 Challenge car which was designed and built for the track only, then came the 360 Challenge Stradale which is road-legal, but features many performance improvements which make it an amazing track car.

    Next we have the road going F430 and subsequently Ferrari introduced the 430 Challenge car, again designed and built for the track only and soon (very soon we hope) the 430 Challange Stradale will be upon us. Again, built to be road-going, but will rock on the track.

    There is no such thing as a 360 Challlenge Stradale. The car you are talking of is a derivative of the 360 but is called Challenge Stradale, without any number prefix.

    This is why there will not be a 430 Challenge Stradale. There will most likely be a lightly modified and improved 430 at the end of the run, which in the US ends with 2008 model year cars (final production in May 2008). The names being bandied about included LP, Leggera Pista, Light Pista etc.
    Whatever the car is, it won't vary much from the current 430 as Ferrari is precluded from making any material modifications to the 430 pursuant to a consent decree with the Federal DOT, because of a lack of front passenger seat airbag sensors.

    Immediate replacement in 2009 or a one to two year pause? My guess would be the latter unless there are mules running around unspotted. The spotted ones have been the end run version of the 430.

    Just got back from the dealer.....and wow, the challenge is amazing, the attention to detail and fit and finish are something to behold.

    Firstly getting into the car isnt easy, the roll cage makes it rather difficult in fact but once seated the race seat holds you like a glove, incredibly comfortable, ahead you have the LCD display, we did start the car and well, its much louder than the standard 430. Interior is stripped out as you would imagine but again attention to detail is stunning and seude steering wheel feels great to hold....

    Tyres are not slicks as we expected by Pirelli Corsas. As far as driving the car on the road goes, there is a possibility this might happen at least once.....

    My mates car was still in the workshop being cleaned but there was another on the showroom floor which was easier to photograph, but that car is in Rosso Scuderia,which in my opinion isnt the ideal colour.

    Not sure what the dollar price is but here in SA it cost around R2.8 million....but you really cant put a price to owning a racing Ferrari....

    On picture #26, is that the connector to the air jack?
    I can imagine the rush and thrill the driver will experience to drive this car.

    That translates to around $400,000, but I'm sure it includes a a very punitive import tax.

    Cool pictures!

    We all had cool suits installed in our 360 challenges...not sure if there is room in your 430 ...seeing as how there is a passenger seat.

    Also, cover your dash when ever you can, that dash is prone to fading. I also put clear bra on all the carbon fiber inside. ie...doors and center console.

    Yes here in SA we have 40% import duty and to that is added 14% VAT....which accounts for the inflated price...

    In pic 26 those are the connectors for the air jacks....

    Thanks for suggestions, did notice the dash material seems to be very "fragile" and possibly easy to mark. Strangely enough I also thought that the door skins do need some protective covering....

    Will hopefully have the additional pictures soon.
