Back in the 1980s (the most horrid decade of the twentieth century), Miami Vice was king of the primetime airwaves. Don Johnson (Crockett) hot the Billboard charts and MTV with his regretful single "Heartbeat." What many people don't know is that Phillip Michael Thomas (Tubbs) made an even worse song with what could be the worst 1980s music video.

    Not to me!

I was born in Jan 68. That means I went from 12 to 22 in that decade. That means grade school, high school and college. From a little kid, thru my teens and into drinking age in college. The whole trip smack dab in the 80's beginning to end.

Basically the best years of my life. I miss it.

(I did finally get rid of my flock of seagulls haircut, though)

There's a lot to like about the 80's. Still had some good punk rock and hard core music. Drinking age was still 18 making senior prom a whole lot more interesting. 60's muscle cars were still getting flogged on drag strips instead of super-restored for auction.
I've started hearing some current bands covering 80s songs (Orgy covered Blue Monday, Fear Factory covered Randy Newmans Cars).
So, maybe in a few more years, we'll start to get nostalgic about the 80's...

Yeah, I was born in '66. There was a lot of good stuff going on then, too (80's). Pop culture is usually what we regret most from any era. Musically, there were a lot of great things happening, even on MTV. I never got into Vice, even for the Ferrari. If I needed to gawk at an F-Car that badly, I could drive over to the local dealership.

I"m sure you meant Gary Numan (and the Tubeway Army). Yeah - I was a punk rocker, new waver. Still am.

Drew, I'm gonna take a guess that you heard about the 80's in History class.

Miami Vice is still one of my favorite shows in rerun. The stories are predictable but the cars, girls and music (not to mention a few cool guns and appearances by various celebrities) make for escapist entertainment.

I can't imagine Crockett or Tubbs as singers though.

Lee Marvin also made a record once, pretty bad.

Anyone remember the Phillip Michael Thomas Psychic friends network?

Pretty close to me, born in Dec. 69. I think the 80's were great. Maybe everyone thinks the decade they grew up in were the best, but I'm glad I grew up in the 80's vs. the 90's.
