I've enjoyed this thread so much, it's time I contributed. In the never-ending quest for knowledge on the 500 Mondials, we were able to interview Ms. Jane Earls, the ex-wife of Charles Hassan. Hassan was one of the "Cincinatti Gang", weekend warrior Ferrari owners who raced in the Midwest in the mid-late 50s. We actually visited Ms. Earls about ten years ago and were extremely excited when she brought a shoebox of old photos - I will post some of my favorites over the next day or so.

Fabulous photos. I briefly knew a Cincinatti man named Bill Beach. He has or had a 4 cylinder Ferrari sports racer in his collection. He stores his collection in an old Rolls Royce dealership in Cincinatti? Do you know him?

You could, but, my pic quota is full and Rob is already working on it. I usually post pics on Telaio only. For those I have on the Carma car, they aren't my copyright. As soon as my quota allows to post, I will try...

Great pictures Philippe. I like how they show the evolution from April trials to the race.

    Great picture!Tanks for posting.
By looking at exhaust pipes lay-out we may have a feeling about the technical challenge in having a transverse mounted V8 engine with 2 turbochargers, fitted into a 308.The 2 big pipes on the right discharge the exhausts gas leaving the turbines, located one on the front engine bank and one just behind the rear bank. The 2 small pipes on the left are discharging from the waste-gate valves in order to limit turbo speed and max boost. All that under operations may reach temperature up to 950 or 1050 degrees centigrades ( really hot ). The results may be seen in the picture with flames, burning out excess fuel under deceleration.

wow, great shots - - apparently there was a bump on the main straight that would launch the cars off the ground - we have a Tom Burnside shot of our car w/ all four tires off the ground going over that bump.

Awsome photos! Interesting the difference in the placement of the cars for the start in the last photo. Guess somebody wanted the drivers exhausted from running before they started the race :)o)

first pic features about 12 cobras looking to be 289s, a jag xke, a genie (?), a king cobra, a chaparall, a bird cage maser, and a corvette grand sport. 1965? i remember the grand sports making a splash when they came out.

very very cool pictures, thanks for sharing.
