I've just gone head long into buying 1 of these without a lot of research...Mainly just because of that V10 Engine...Anyone know anything about these lovely cars ?

They are quite quick 0-60 in 5.2 secs.

i think car/driver and road/track also did this comparo and the audi won everytime.

i have an s4 and an a8l and love them both. i imagine s6/s8 would be a little like combining mine into one.

The S6 'broke' and they still rated it above the M5. Wow.

Steering feel isn't up to BMW's level, but still light years ahead of Mercedes.

I like the S8's (actually A8 W12's even more so) interior more then the S6's, personally. The S6 has a very "German cold" feel reminiscent of the old E36 M3 (non-lux) and E34 M5 interiors. Which isn't a bad thing, per say... (as, for example, I like that style interior on the E31 8 series and E24 6 series) ...It is just in its execution it looks a bit too plastic for a 2000+ era car, again for my taste. I think that visual effect is generated for the most part by the Nav screen "pod" and its surround. BMW does a much better job of creating this twin pod look without appearing cheap.

    You stole my thunder.
Drove my brother's car,was really surprised with unexpectedly good handling and power.
Interior is lacking though,in that price range in particular.

Quattro all wheel drive is the *spoiler* in the comparison. If you live where it would be helpful then there is no electronic substitute. Unfortunately the S6 is nose heavy and plows hard. Quattro doesn't help understeer much.
