So... F-chat was down, but 20 laps to go... whaddya think?
My thoughts... 1) Kimi - wtf? Did ya just give up? 2) It will be a crime if Hamilton doesn't get around Alonso. He deserves it in spades! 3) Good job Fisi. Thumbs down Ralf 4) What the f*** is Peter Windsors fascination with celebrities? I was embarassed FOR him! He's trying to get a word in with Jude Law, the french guy in Ronin, and Gordon Ramsey?!?!?! Meanwhile Alonso actually is willing to chat and he just says "I gotta go this generator is hot". Dude! Get over yourself - you're a washed up F1 has-been who was given a gift of a job... at least do it right and show us something interesting.
I think today was pretty depressing. Kimi didn't work his way through the field and Massa was struggling all day. Massa's strategy just seemed to not work out well at all. Mark
Boring race as usual at Monack maybe a bit of excitement between the two Mclarens now but other than that........snooze time
The GP2 race was more exciting. Kimi might get one point. Hoping for a Hamilton win. The super softs have ruined interval times. Carol
I think that at a track like Monaco..there should be no qualifying and the pole positions should be made by a lucky draw. That way you would see more racing
I really hope Massa has a reason why he couldn't match pace today. Otherwise, the Macs might have surpassed the red cars. If there is no reason why he was slower, I'm hoping this was only because of the unique characteristics of Monaco. Mark
Doesn't look like LH will be able to duke it out with FA. Kimi getting on a respectable pace - too little, too late.
Good morning Mark - he really lost ground when he went with the super softs. Another one of "those F1 rules". Carol
Agreed. They need to do away with his stupid segment. I actually muted the TV it was so embarrassing.
yep, been a snoozer. The podium order is the same as quali order. And I could count on my hand the # of on-track passes Toyota ought to sneak out without anyone noticing. They are the embarassment of F1 right now.
Good morning Carol. Yeah he really did; I think the problem lies in the tires/strategy. At least I hope so. The Ferrari hasn't looked all that great all weekend so hopefully we're seeing McLaren flattered by the circuit rather than Ferrari falling back. Mark
Monaco is a max downforce track - they basically forget aero and just set the car up for max grip (downforce). So any advantage at higher speeds a car has will be essentially negated. I think this weekend probably shows us that the Mac is good for mechanical grip, but the Ferrari has better aero overall. When that advantage is taken away, the Macs are a few tenths per lap quicker. Luckily, for Ferrari, this is pretty much the only track where that is the case. So from this point on the 'normal' order should resume, with Ferrari a bit quicker. Then again, Kimi has now seriously hurt his chances in the WDC as well as the team's chances in in the WCC. A team needs BOTH drivers to perform EVERY weekend. That's why Mac is doing a lot better than F even with a slightly inferior car. Like Renault 2 years ago - Kimi was faster, but Alonso was consistent. And being consistently fast (if not the fastest) matters a LOT.
Yep, he did - that would be one of the few worth mentioning - but other than a little excitment here and there it's been kind of a snoozer, don't you think? I mean, compared to some races we've seen in recent years.
The Ferrari de-brief after the race ought to be interesting. Wonder if Kimi will show or find a yacht somewhere? You're correct about the tire strategy. Got to applaude Massa for hanging in there for Ferrari. Could Michael put on a driver suit and get Ferrari back up into the point by taking Kimi's seat? Carol
Kimi found a yacht to get drunk on last year so I think it'll be the same this year. Michael should absolutely suit up and strap the car on. Kimi should be put in the Toyota.
