I think you will be surprised. Kimi will do nothing this season. I never liked the way he drove and he is not as good as many think he is. I hope Ferrari shows him the door at the end of this season. Buy his contract out by giving him a winery in tuscany.

It took him until the 5th Race of 2005 to win a race, and he took the Championship to the wire that year. In addition, he took it to the w, ire as well in 2003. Lets give him a bit more time to get adjusted to the team, I too thought he would have done better by now, but lets not get to crazy, the guy did a great job in the first race, and the Spanish GP was not his fault, it was an Alternator Failure (Very Rare and something that would have never happened in the Ross Brawn Era). As far as Monaco, I would have preferred if he would have crashed out and tried to overtake than settling for 8th, but at least he got a point.

How true that is..... I think Massa has enormous talent and it is now coming out more then ever. One little race gone bad and all the bashers come out. Now, he is a good contender for the WDC and they hush up.....
I think the big picture is a little missed though. We want them to ultimately bring the WCC, back home where it belongs.................To Ferrari.......

at which point, I don't know why Ron Dennis would even bother wanting to live anymore because he will have been finally defeated by Ferrari.

Only way for that to work is if Ron Dennis retires. McLaren has 7+ years invested in Lewis.

Lewis Hamilton is doing at McLaren the same thing Kimi did when he got to McLaren.
Sure - bring Lewis to Ferrari - that doesn't mean he will do any better than Kimi.
If not Kimi, I ask yet again - who ?

    Danica ? LOL

Why would he come to Ferrari ?
I think the problems with Ferrari are more than just a driver, just keep in mind the laundry list of everyone who also quit when MS did, that hurt alot.

All the more reason for dedication, team work, feedback, etc. to make Ferrari as competitive as before. (Don't ask to be excused early . .) > Not F1 related but shows how a team stays successful . .in Salt Lake City last weekend, Marino was driving the AGR P2 Acura and went out of the race - during an interview by Hindy, Marino said he was anxious to get together with the team to discuss the race and start immediately preparing for the next one (which isn't until after LeMans).

    Absolutely.

Massa has a tremendous advantage over Raikkonen in team cooperation at this time. On the Ferrari, this makes a diference.

The moral to this story (thread) is that if you are going to screw up, at least be a dedicated team player. Otherwise it's hasta lavista, baby.

The world is not a very forgiving place, especially when you are the highest paid driver in F1.

In this picyure Kimi is seen holding a copy of The Red Bulletin ([ur]http://www.redbulletin.com/[/url]), the satirical magazine produced by the Red Bull team. This is the magazine that Ron Dennis was ranting about last week and he has decreed that no copies of the magazine are to enter the McLaren motorhome. Was Kimi being disloyal by reading such a publication? Is this the real reason why he left McLaren? Was he just trying to avoid Ron's censorship? ;)

The Speed guys discuss the possibility of Ferrari bringing back Michael as a test driver, to help set up the car. Maybe seeing Michael in his car is the spark that can light Kimi's fire, or it could completely backfire and just encourage him to get drunk more often. Either way, if I were Ferrari, I would be willing to try it. Not only would it send a clear cut message to Kimi, but it would also help the development of the car.

You don't have to be inherently lazy to follow the path of least resistance.

A good excuse can be a really, really, bad thing -- when you get in the habit of relying on it.

Look at the state of the world: Excuses are creating the age of acceptable failure.

Kimi has to stop waiting for the "perfect" car and start getting the most out of what he's got at the grid. In '03, did Kimi lose to a better car, or to a better driver?

In Monaco, Scott Speed came in just behind Kimi despite running with bad brakes, and starting two grid spots back. Of course, they both had Ferrari engines, and Monaco tends to neutralize the differences in the aero packages. But when Kimi' performance gets compared to "little surfer boy", you have to wonder whether the Yank is improving that much, or if Kimi just isn't giving 100%.

Here's what Alonso had to say about Kimi on Autosport this am:

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen can't afford any more mistakes if he wants to have a chance to fight for this year's title, according to world champion Fernando Alonso.

The Finnish driver left Monaco 15 points behind Alonso in the standings after scoring just one point at the principality.

Raikkonen had to start the race from 16th place after he damaged his car during the second qualifying session on Saturday, meaning he didn't make it to Q3.

The Ferrari driver, who was tied at the top of the standings prior to the Spanish Grand Prix, has seen Alonso score 16 points in the last two races while the Finn himself has scored just one following his retirement in Barcelona.

Alonso believes Raikkonen is still capable of fighting back, but he has warned the Finn that he can't afford any more mistakes.

"Being fifteen points behind he's entering a risk zone," Alonso was quoted as saying by AS newspaper. "The next mistake will leave him out (of the championship fight). He's still in the battle, but he's risking losing touch.

"(Felipe) Massa is a bit closer, and I prefer to fight for the title with my own teammate, because then we will be fighting in equal conditions, not with a Ferrari, which you don't know how strong it will be. "

The Spaniard also reckons that he will be champion if he can continue scoring as consistently as in the first five races of the season.

"It's a crucial phase," he added. "I always said the my and the car's full potential will come in the second half of the year, and the team will progress a lot. The positive thing is that we have been pretty strong in these five first races and, in theory, the best is yet to come in the last six or seven races.

"I have 38 points in five races, and I if I achieve the same in the next five, I'm going to win the title. I want to repeat those results so I have 76 points by the tenth race."

Alonso is tied on points with teammate Lewis Hamilton, but the Spaniard leads thanks to having scored two wins.

All of this BS with Kimi would end quickly if they would have built his contract as a performance contract.
A certain base salary. Say 10 dollars an hour,
    2 million for each pole.
    Ten million for each win.
    100,000 for each lap led.
He gets nothing if he breaks the car except the 10 dollars an hour (at least he won't leave early. )
To stimulate his involvement in the team he also gets nothing if the car breaks from mechanic F-up. ( This way he will be making friends with all the mechanics and getting involved in their doing it right.)
And last if Massa beats him Kimi ows 5 million to the team.
Oh and if he can't cut it on speed alone , he gets 5 million if he takes Alonso out.
This is obviously tongue-in cheek, but I think they should tie performance into the equation some-how.

(Not to hijack the thread, please consider that we should avoid the word "hate". We all do it. It is a habit that should be avoided. It is better to say I prefer Felipe over Kimi than to say I hate Kimi. When we say we hate something or someone we give up power to it. When we say we prefer something we are in a positive mode and on the way to becoming a positive person.

Positive people attract other positive people and situations. They are happier. their glass is half full vs half empty. Positive people make more of what they have and enjoy it more. It's a win win. Needless to say I hate negative people.) :D

You've been reading The Secret. But the message is true.

My question is why would anyone "hate" a driver on the team that most of us are supporting?

Hmm, where have I seen this before: Young hot superstar driver wins the first race of the season and becomes a hot contender for the open wheel championship but then because of some mysterious lack of motivation drops out of the following races. That causes the team manager to bring in the old champ to motivate the young guy again.

Where was that again? Ah, yes "Driven" where everybody said the movie's plot was too contrieved. Life imitating art. :)
