Sounds like more bogus HOGwash to me. First off, the link to monsterpig.com doesn't work. More importantly, the picture looks like a photoshop. The top of the entire pig looks "fuzzy", like it's been manipulated with photoshop. I'm not buying it.
I beat you to the punch by a few minutes in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=136756711#post136756711
You don't ever want to do that. Feral pigs in the US south have been running around for a couple hundred years. They can exceed 350 pounds and are deadly. Being gored by one of those monsters as a bad or worse than being gored by a bull. BTW, they have teeth you might see in your worst nightmare.
The picture in that article is pretty fuzzy, but that's a totally custom, ported revolver in that kid's hand. Still impressive, but I'll bet that gun isn't too bad to shoot. (The kid's no pee-wee either)
a little snopes research: It hasn't been officially confirmed yet http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/hogzilla.asp Very bottom of the page.
I'm still saying bunk. On the monsterpig web site, all the pictures look strangely "fuzzy". A kid can shoot a 1000 pound pig, but nobody can snap a decent picture of it to document the incident? Smells like hogwash.
No way the kid brought that down with a pistol, he would need to go through some clips to take down the monster. You need a tank shell to stop the MF-er
350 lbs. outside Salinas, Cal. a couple weeks ago by a friend of mine. .243 in the neck and out the top of the head. One of two he killed. He was kind enough to share a small roast with me. YUM! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The backhoe shot looks realistic. I'm going with phony on the rest of the shots. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
http://www.annistonstar.com/showcase/2007/as-open-0522-0-7e21s1417.htm Look at the pics from this. He has the pistol on the hogs, but is not holding it. In POST 16, the first 2 look real. In the 3rd, they are all kneeling and as in the fourth, and on the link I posted, the kid and family is way behind the hog. A special effect used in movies. And the pistol could be used by the kid. It is an all custom job, so it may well have lower recoil. The real issue is why he needed to shoot the hog more than once, maybe twice, and then hunt it down for 3 hours. Big BS on this one.
An early start for first Show and Tell of his upcoming 7th Grade school year. Student 1: I have this interesting collection of rocks. Teacher: Looks like gravel to me. Student 1: Yeah, I found it on the way to school. Teacher: Thank you. Next. Student 2: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=3214709 I shot this record-breaking, 1051 pound, 9'4" wild boar with a .50 Caliber revolver eight times while chasing it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot. In order to get it out, they had to cut down a bunch of trees'n'stuff and take it out with a backhoe. Teacher: *Gasp* Thank you. Next. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I dont know much about boars but i would have thought a boar half the size of that would have been fake!
I find this a little hard to believe. Down south, EVERYONE is in the woods during hunting season...I would think that there would be tons more stories about massive pigs &/or stories about killing them. I have never even heard of a wild boar even close to that size and all of my friends & I hunt.
(Thanks, Snake - Merged thread - what I get for taking a day off) I say, Real. It'd have to be a hoax of epic proportions, 'cause this kid's sit-down interview's looping on Headline News. Hey, whart - was this pic on your redirect to Rosie, the big, fat hog? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Has the hog been officially measured and weighed? I remember when Hogzilla made headlines and the people making the claim had the hog buried in the ground before the story made the news. If I shot a hog like that, I'd have it on display for the critics. I know the head is at a taxadermist, but surely someone has verified the size of the hog???
