So I was right in my post yesterday. Lewis was handicaped big time and with him pulling right in front of Massa right at the beginning of the race tells me that Alonso was gifted the race. 5 Laps more fuel than Alonso equates to almost 3/4 of a second in Quali. IF Lewis was allowed to race the 5 laps after Alonsos first pit then it is clear that Lewis would have been in front of Alonso once he came out of the pits. Someone asked earlier why people are so quick to jump all over Alonso. Well maybe its because he has a huge ego and maybe just a little bit of an attitude. He is one HUGE suck when he dosnt win and I say again that Ron held back Lewis simply because he was going deaf listening to Alonso whine for the last month. I have been a Ferrari fan for decades but this season not only am I a Ferrari fan but I really want to see Lewis kick Alonsos' butt. Makes watching the races that much more fun. Lewis is a better driver than Alonso by far. For those that cant see that then maybe..... ........
it seems, no matter what thread it is, or what discussing is going on, no one seems to appreciate Massa.
It's rare that we agree on anything, but it just happened. Your argument is exactly what the FIA is saying and that's why they are debating whether to take away McLaren's constructors points for Monaco (not the drivers points). It was obvious what Hamilton was doing and we know that who gets first through St. Devote normally bags the win. The move made sense, I don't complain, but it was team orders.
Wasn't it Meatloaf that sang that song, "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth"? Except you took the words right out of context. :} No, I do not think Hamilton is better than Massa, quite the opposite. And I am beginning to think that Massa is catching up to Alonso. I am not yet convinced the Ferrari is the equal of the McLaren, that answer will answer the question as to driver ability.
nah...i appreciate him( i don't like him which is completely different), mostly just pouring gas on the fire, thats all......... i kinda agree.........i don't think we should be comparing Hamilton to anyone, he's a rookie and certainly has the least amount of experience..........however, as a rookie, i don't think you'll find anyone who has ever performed as well as he is performing right now.....Hamilton will make history and WDC is most certainly in his future! about Massa.....hmm, don't know really what to say.......if he starts pole, he will win(most of the time), if he doesn't get pole, then he won't win(even Kimi went from 16th to 8th, yeah most were gimmies, but at least he moved up), this time he started 3rd, let the rookie jump out in front of him and never really challenged the rookie's position, like everyone say "we haven't seen him in the rain, and we haven't seen him move from the midfield to the front during a race, we haven't seen him really outperform anyone" yeah it's beating a dead horse, but all are valid points/arguements, imo.... for example, in any given race, if Massa was to qualify 4th or 5th even, would you feel confident that Massa can come back and win the race by outperforming the 3-4 drivers in front of him??rain or shine.......I know I don't!.... dunno, guess i'm still expecting MS like performance/results from the Ferrari drivers and they're not delivering.........so here I find myself rooting for the underdog, Lewis Hamilton......I really hope the Ferrari team pulls it together for the rest of the season!
I was all set to give Alonso his due (because I tend to be a critic about his attitude), but after reading the information on different sites (which oddly have few quotes from him), your conclusion feels spot on. If you read through Lewis' snippets, he is saying exactly what you are. Add me to the list of your last paragraph.
I agree with you, we shouldn't be comparng Hamilton to anyone so soon. Do not forget, Massa started from the pits (22nd) earlier this year and finished 6th. That is better than your comparison of Kimi going from 16th to 8th. So much depends on the track and whether or not passing is even possible. Monaco? Really no place to pass, so the only way Massa could have passed anyone is from the pits. Has anyone other than Heidfeld successfully completed an ontrack pass this season? The answer is no. Only Alonso and Massa have tried and both failed. Hamilton hasn't even tried to pass, nor has Kimi. Canada is tight, not as much as Monaco, so there may be a place to pass. Passing should be possible at Indy from the last turn to turn one. How can we assume that MS would have done any better? I remember races where he had problems and did not podium. Is the image of Michael so God like that we think if he were here Ferrari would be doing better? I do not believe that at all.
My apologies, I didn't realize you were in the McLaren Communications Center when Ron Dennis was giving instructions to his drivers. My mistake... Here I thought Hamilton was protecting his position...
I would not be so sure that it was an order. Not saying it wasn't, but we have no way of knowing. Except maybe for Yellowbird...................
I'm just continually amazed that you dont seem to give hamilton any credit I mean lets face it he is a rookie mixing it with the best..in which you appear to respect then knock him down ,great car I admit but if webber was driving it I wonder if you centiments would be quite the same.... Alonso is brillant
I had a good idea (to me) in the shower this morning. I was thinking that they could do an "All Star" race. Maybe in equal cars, but on a regular circuit (not an oval, not a street circuit). Maybe do the reverse pole thing, where pole goes to the back. They would have to get all the teams to participate - maybe give away bails of cash for placements, and make sure the sponsors got plenty of exposure. I think it would be amazingly fun to watch all the drivers dicing it up in totally equal cars. AND it would maybe give the under-represented drivers in F1 their due. I mean, if Albers whipped everyone's butt in an equal car, then I bet he'd get more attention from the better performing teams when contract time rolls around. The only trick would be getting everyone to participate and doing it in a sporting manner - i.e. not sandbagging because it "doesn't count" and they dont want to risk someone getting hurt. I think an All Star race (something like IROC in the USA or the All Star NBA/MLB game) would be fantastic.
LOL Majestix always checks whether the sky is falling. It is his MO. What he should check though is whether his two carriers bend low enough before passing through the door. <sorry OT, couldn't resist>
Actually that comment about Albers made sense. This type of event would be a good idea, and Bernie could make more untold millions. I wonder why it has not been considered. I apologize for commenting on your comments.
Thats an idea that has been thrown around for a while and it would be a great race to watch. It would however be very expensive to put everyone in the same F1 car. They would have to get some other type of car(open wheel of course). Maybe Dalara(sp) would spring for the cars or they could go to a Formula ford or something.
A McLaren spokeswoman on Monday suggested that the Woking based team is not worried about the FIA's investigation into the use of possibly illegal team orders in the Monaco GP. A storm of controversy - stirred almost certainly by the British media's strident reaction to Lewis Hamilton's forcibly restrained pace on the streets of the Principality - erupted when Ron Dennis admitted that he personally interfered with the outcome of Sunday's race. But the spokeswoman said: "McLaren are completely comfortable with the FIA's investigation into our race strategy and that all decisions taken both before and during the race were completely in compliance with the International Sporting Code." Team orders have long and consistently been applied throughout F1's history, but McLaren could fall foul of the FIA's ruling in October 2002, after Ferrari outraged the racing world by swapping places near the finish-line of the Austrian GP. "Team orders which interfere with the race result are prohibited", the rules now state. Referring to Dennis' 'hold-position' order in Monaco, an FIA spokesman said on Tuesday: "There was enough for us to be concerned about." The maximum penalty applicable for a breach of the Sporting Code is exclusion from the championship, or the docking of points, but a merely financial sanction is more likely It should read hamilton had the measure of alonso
Why open wheeled cars? How about identical Audi DTM cars? Audi is not in F1, nor are any of its affiliates, according to Mika they are reasonably handling cars.
I did not have the privilege of being included in McLaren's trackside radio communication. I would guess, none of us on this forum had that honor. So we don't know if there were any orders, and we don't know if Hamilton was performing better than Alonso. Even if he was, it would have taken a team order for Alonso to pull over and let Hamilton pass.
If you used DTM it would be just like the Race of Champions. It should be a vintage race, where each team races in old F1 cars, Ferrari has plenty of those laying around.
If the wager is right. Hammy is too consistent right now and hes done FIVE races, FIVE. By the time he gets to his tenth, watch out Freddy.
<sorry for OT hijack> You call your avatar Vitalstatistix? Interesting. I know they have different names in different languages. I read them in German and the boss was Majestix (as in the Majestic). <don't bind and gag me now, I won't sing, I promise arghlbhrldlllrgg>
